Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Dream Come True! (Post #1498)
Hello, darlings! It’s Emma from www.pink-tutu.com and I'm positively thrilled to be whisking you off to Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, for my latest adventure!
It's a Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new post from yours truly, and trust me, this one's a hoot! It's been a whirlwind of tutus, tramlines and traditional pastries - Prague has completely stolen my heart!
But let's back up a bit.
Tutu Time
How did I end up in this beautiful city? Well, it all started with a swoon-worthy opportunity to perform at the National Theatre in Prague! Yes, you heard me right - a real-life, dream-come-true ballet gig in a venue as historic and magnificent as Prague’s National Theatre!
Of course, my travel outfit was strategically planned to the nth degree. Think a cherry-red beret perched jauntily on my head, a flowing blush-pink tulle skirt, and a gorgeous pink silk blouse - a nod to the blush of the Czech countryside, you see. I even threw in a few pops of magenta-toned jewels to complete the look. Because let’s be honest, darling, one can never have too much pink!
The Grand Arrival
Prague was everything I’d dreamed it would be. Cobbled streets, towering spires, and a real fairytale atmosphere! My trusty friend (and travelling companion) Rosie (a beautiful chestnut pony with an incredible sense of style, might I add) took me on a tour of the city. She is quite a remarkable pony; so very much "in" at the moment; she has great confidence in the horse world! Rosie really did feel the magic of Prague; she trotted beautifully, all round the city. Her mane, you see, is a beautiful pink; perfect for me and she gets a real lot of attention in every city that we go to! We both loved our first journey - all the way from Derbyshire; it only took three hours - thank heavens!
Shopping for Swans
Speaking of style, darling, naturally, a visit to the Czech capital meant an afternoon spent shopping in the Old Town Square! You see, Prague is a true treasure when it comes to vintage tutus. I must admit I did make a couple of exciting purchases! Just a tiny little vintage tulle confection and a delicate tulle ballet wrap.
You know, darling, one just can't be without the right accessory - and Prague never disappoints in the accessory department!
A Night at the Opera (Actually, a Night at the Ballet!)
As you already know, I was about to perform at Prague's National Theatre and I wanted to enjoy as many experiences as I could before my performance, which, of course, included a must-see show.
As I stood inside that beautiful theatre, with its opulence and majesty, it took me back in time. The acoustics, the chandelier - everything whispered stories of the past. I felt so inspired to create, to be transported by the beauty of the ballet! And as if on cue, I fell head-over-tutu in love with 'The Swan Lake', featuring the exquisite prima ballerina, Svetlana. She was simply mesmerizing, her movement fluid, graceful and expressive.
*Sharing my Passion with the World (Well, with the Prague Ballet) *
As the date of my performance at the Prague National Theatre loomed, I'd be lying if I didn't say that a tad of nerves were creeping in, but mostly, I felt excited! After all, it was time for me to unleash my Pink Tutu Magic upon the city of Prague!
The audience was brilliant, I felt their love of ballet; they seemed so taken with my act that evening! I truly felt like I was dancing not only for them but for my own inner tutu.
As you know, darling, the greatest gift a performer can receive is to see how the audience connects with the performance, and Prague was simply phenomenal. I have to confess - I almost shed a happy tear when I saw how completely absorbed in my show everyone was!
Breakfast with Ballet History
But I couldn’t leave Prague without experiencing a wee slice of its wonderful cultural heritage. Now, I know Prague is synonymous with the world-famous Charles Bridge, the magnificent Astronomical Clock and of course its charming castle. But I found myself mesmerized by another attraction, hidden within a beautiful, serene courtyard - the House of Ballet and Theatre. It's truly a jewel, darling, an exhibition space dedicated to all things ballet!
A little fun fact - Did you know that Prague is said to have the oldest ballet tradition in Europe?! And this exhibit showed the remarkable evolution of this art form! There were costumes on display (I gasped in admiration at a truly spectacular tutu - the way it was designed was sheer genius! I’m not sure I can actually explain the awe I felt in that moment) and beautiful photographs from ballets of yore. Honestly, the collection is worth every bit of time you can spare, and the best bit? It’s completely free to explore! A beautiful moment indeed!
Tutuing My Way to a Perfect Prague Afternoon
Prague really has captured my heart and my tutu! With its captivating architecture, fairytale atmosphere, fantastic shopping, and inspiring ballet, there's so much to discover here! There’s something truly special about strolling down the Vltava River, stopping at little boutiques, soaking up the history at each turn, and watching graceful ballet dancers pirouette by!
Prague is more than just a beautiful city, darling. It's an experience, a journey to remember!
Until next time!
Emma xoxo
