Prague, Darling, Prague! Pink Tutu Adventures in the City of a Thousand Spires (Post #1549)

Wednesday, 12th February, 2025

Hello my lovelies! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, writing to you from the heart of Prague, the city of a thousand spires! πŸ—ΌπŸŒΈ

Now, you know I'm a huge fan of trains, and the journey from Derbyshire to Prague was simply delightful. Imagine a train journey that takes you through the rolling green hills of Germany, with glimpses of ancient castles peeking through the trees. The gentle sway of the train and the melodic rhythm of the tracks - it's like a waltz for the soul, perfectly complementing my tulle-swishing dreams.

As soon as I arrived in Prague, I knew this was going to be a special trip. The cobbled streets, the charming cafes, the medieval architecture - all this romanticism felt like a scene straight out of a classic ballet. Even the air smelled of history, poetry, and just a hint of Viennese pastries (which, by the way, I absolutely devoured!)

But what I truly came to Prague for is something absolutely sensational: Pink Tutu Prague! This enchanting ballet company, known for its vibrant performances and innovative choreography, is hosting a very special event tonight at the National Theatre - a gala performance showcasing the most iconic ballets from the Czech repertoire. πŸ©°πŸ‘‘

Of course, I had to find the perfect outfit for the occasion! Prague is a veritable wonderland for fashionistas. The boutiques here have the most exquisite selection of dresses and accessories, and, of course, there's an abundance of the prettiest, most delicate pink tulle imaginable! I managed to snag a stunning pink tulle skirt with floral embroidery, which I paired with a classic white blouse. Oh, and the perfect touch? A little sparkly headband that had a miniature porcelain ballerina delicately perched on top - simply divine! πŸ’•

I was bubbling with excitement as I strolled towards the National Theatre, which, let me tell you, is just breathtaking. The facade of this magnificent building, with its neo-Renaissance grandeur, makes me want to twirl! And the sheer size of it, it almost seemed to beckon me to dance across the cobblestone square before it! πŸ’ƒ

The gala performance was spectacular! The dancers, all so talented, swirled and soared across the stage, their movements graceful, passionate, and filled with such vibrant emotion. They truly embodied the spirit of Prague - rich in history, vibrant in colour, and undeniably captivating. It's no wonder that Prague has such a storied ballet heritage!

Speaking of heritage, you know I couldn't resist doing a bit of research on the ballet history of this city. The National Theatre, established in 1881, has hosted some of the world's most famous ballet dancers, and it holds a truly impressive repertoire. The legendary ballerina, Anna Pavlova, once graced the stage here, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of beauty and technical prowess. I imagine her graceful presence, her swirling tulle, and the quiet murmurs of the audience, all steeped in admiration. πŸ’«

As much as I enjoyed seeing the National Theatre, it was at the Municipal House, a truly opulent building with Art Nouveau design, that I stumbled upon something quite fascinating: a collection of old tutus. I have a bit of a tutu obsession, you know! And these delicate tulle masterpieces, many over a hundred years old, made me understand the artistry that went into each and every layer of the garment.

Imagine! They created such amazing outfits, these ingenious tutu creators of the past, all using just yards upon yards of beautiful, shimmering tulle!

My adventures in Prague continued the next day with a trip to the Old Town Square. Now, this square is something out of a fairytale, all quaint cafes, historic architecture, and, most importantly, a pink flamingo cafe! Now, a pink flamingo cafe is right up my alley, you know! Not only was the cafe adorned in the most lovely shades of pink and had the sweetest little flamingos perched everywhere, but it even served a pink tutu latte. 🦩

If that wasn't enough pink heaven, I found the most exquisite vintage hat shop down a little alleyway. You could just imagine all the elegant ladies who would have walked through its doors in their pink frocks and matching hats. Naturally, I had to find a tutu-inspired pink fascinator - which I'm planning to wear to my next performance, back in Derbyshire. 🌸

Speaking of performances, I am so excited to be performing this weekend! It’s a very special occasion, as we are commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Derbyshire Ballet Company. This celebration is going to be something spectacular, filled with dance, music, and most importantly, plenty of pink! πŸ’–

As the evening wraps up here in Prague, I’m already dreaming about my next trip - a weekend in Budapest, the 'City of Pearls', with its iconic thermal baths and buzzing cultural scene. Perhaps, I'll even try some dancing in the thermal baths! πŸ˜‰

Before I go, let's remember - the aim in life is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! So go out there, twirl, shimmy, and express your inner ballerina with a vibrant, tulle-filled confidence. πŸ’–

Until next week, lovelies!

Yours in tulle, Emma
