It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, bringing you the latest from Prague! Yes, I’m in the heart of Europe, and believe me, this city is truly magical. The cobbled streets, the iconic Prague Castle perched atop a hill, the quaint cafes with their warm, inviting aromas – it's a feast for the senses! And this week, Prague has also been a haven for dance lovers, with a performance that quite frankly, left me utterly spellbound!
Travel by Train, My Love! 🚃
As usual, I embarked on my adventure by train. There’s nothing quite like the romantic whiff of old railway lines, the clattering wheels, the gentle sway – a delightful journey indeed! My beautiful pink tutu got some envious looks, naturally.
A Horse and Cart – Pure Glamour! 🎠
After a blissful overnight journey, I arrived in Prague with my pink suitcase bursting with tutus, shoes, and enough sparkle to light up a ballroom! My trusty chauffeur, a dashing gentleman named Karel, whisked me away in a horse and cart. The cobblestones rattled as the horse trotted, the city unfolding in front of me – it was like stepping into a fairytale!
Tutu Shopping at its Finest 💖
And you know what else is magical? The Prague shopping! I couldn't resist a detour to a charming little boutique called "Pánská Modřanská". Oh my, their tutu collection was magnificent! With layers of shimmering tulle, sequins like stars, and an array of beautiful colours – I confess, I nearly bought them all! I managed to snag a gorgeous, pastel pink tutu with delicate flower embellishments, a perfect addition to my pink ensemble.
The Pink Tutu – A Universal Language! 🌎
While walking through Prague, I’ve discovered that a pink tutu is indeed a universal language! Every single person, regardless of age, nationality or background, sends me a big smile whenever I walk past. A child tugging at his mother’s hand, an elderly couple in a bustling marketplace – the reactions are unanimous: smiles, nods, even a few twirls. It's heartwarming!
A Night of Ballet Splendour 🌟
And now, onto the highlight of my Prague trip – the ballet! I was fortunate enough to attend a performance at the magnificent Národní divadlo (National Theatre). This beautiful building, steeped in history, made my heart flutter.
“Swan Lake”: A Timeless Classic 🦢
Tonight’s performance was "Swan Lake", a classic ballet by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with exquisite choreography. I'm a sucker for anything classical, especially with a romantic storyline, and "Swan Lake" does not disappoint! The dancers, both graceful and powerful, captured my imagination from the first note.
The Beauty of Movement 💃
There is something truly mesmerizing about a ballerina’s every move. The graceful leaps, the fluid movements, the storytelling that happens within every plié and jeté – it’s an incredible feat of human expression. Watching "Swan Lake" transported me to another world, one of passion, heartbreak, and ultimately, hope.
Dress Code: Tutu Required! 💖
My favourite part about a ballet performance, besides the dance itself, is dressing up. I put on my new pastel pink tutu and accessorised it with sparkling earrings and a matching clutch. Feeling utterly glamorous, I arrived at the theatre, turning heads as I walked. Even the ushers smiled approvingly at my pink ensemble.
Sharing the Joy with Locals
As we took our seats in the opulent, gilded hall, a young girl sitting next to me turned to her mother, pointing to my pink tutu and whispering something with excitement. Her mother smiled knowingly, a small pink tutu pinned onto her own cardigan! It was then that I truly realised – my passion for ballet is a universal language.
A Day at the Ballet School 🏫
Speaking of universal language, yesterday I visited a local ballet school, the Taneční centrum Praha. Watching young ballerinas train filled me with joy. Their dedication and passion were infectious, their grace and agility inspiring. The school was filled with vibrant energy – a perfect reminder that love for dance truly transcends borders!
A Ballet Feast – Past and Present
And while exploring Prague’s magical streets, I found myself wandering into the Museum of Decorative Arts, a hidden gem showcasing fashion throughout the ages! The exhibition, "Tutu and Its Secrets," exhibited historical tutus from various ballet companies, showing the evolution of the tutu's style from the 19th century to the modern day!
Prague’s Dance Heritage
You know, there’s a rich dance history here. Prague has hosted numerous renowned dance performances for centuries. In the heart of the city is the Dancing House, designed by renowned Czech architects, resembling a pair of dancing figures – a unique symbol of the city’s vibrancy and embrace of art in all forms. The city's architecture seems to embody a certain rhythmic quality – as if it itself were performing a beautiful dance!
Finding My Favourite Prague Cafe! ☕️
Prague’s streets offer a sensory experience that’s simply unparalleled. One evening, after a day filled with exploring and admiring stunning ballet performances, I wandered into a small, family-owned cafe called "Cafe Art." Their exquisite pastries and freshly-brewed coffee are just divine, but the real charm comes from the ambiance. It feels like stepping back in time with its traditional wooden decor, quaint tables, and warm lighting. They serve the most divine cakes!
Sharing the Love of Pink Tututudes! 💕
Throughout my week in Prague, I’ve spread a bit of pink tutu love, giving out adorable little pink tutu keychains to passersby. I can honestly say, I’ve received more smiles in Prague than in my entire lifetime! Everyone loves pink tutus. The city seems to have welcomed my bright colour with open arms and twinkling eyes!
A Farewell Waltz 🎶
And now, as my pink tutu-clad adventure in Prague draws to a close, I’m taking in every single sight and sound, relishing in the magic of this enchanting city. It’s time to bid farewell, with a small wave to this charming city as I catch the train back to my next ballet adventure!
But, I can’t help but say, Prague, my love, I'm coming back! The next ballet show, the next waltz, the next tutus to try... until then, keep twirling!
