Pink Tutu Prague: A Fairy Tale in the City of a Hundred Spires! 🩰✨

Blog Post Number: 1595

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing travel blogger, bringing you a slice of fairytale magic straight from the heart of Prague! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for my weekly dose of travel inspiration and pink tulle heaven on www.pink-tutu.com! šŸ’–

This week, I’m living out a dream I’ve cherished since childhood: a festive ballet adventure in the enchanting city of Prague. Picture it: cobblestone streets, twinkling Christmas markets, magnificent architecture that could have sprung from a storybook… and a pink tutu, of course! šŸ’ƒ

The journey to Prague was half the fun! I boarded a grand old train in Derbyshire, England, feeling every bit the elegant Victorian heroine in my pink-tinged velvet coat and feather-trimmed hat. (No, I didn't have a pony this time. Alas, there are very few stables available at a central London train station... sigh!) šŸ˜‰

I've been in Prague for three days, and already it feels like a dream. I've been weaving through the city like a dancer, my pink tutu catching the light as I flit around the charming old squares. You’d think a girl in a pink tutu would be the centre of attention, but I haven’t gotten a single second glance. It’s amazing! This is my kind of town!

Dancing through History: The Ballet Secrets of Prague

Prague has always held a special place in my heart for its rich ballet heritage. It’s the birthplace of some truly phenomenal ballerinas, and it’s home to some of the oldest ballet traditions in Europe! From the magical Czech Ballet company, steeped in centuries of graceful history, to the quirky experimental productions, there's something to appeal to every ballet enthusiast. I'm not one to miss an opportunity to soak up all that enchanting ballet energy, so I started my exploration with a trip to the National Theatre.

This beautiful theatre has been home to incredible ballet for over a century. I got goosebumps just standing outside. You could feel the history vibrating through the stones! The theatre itself is an absolute stunner, with intricate details, a stunningly decorated auditorium, and a magnificent stage, ready to hold the dreams and magic of countless performers. They have the most wonderful mix of shows – traditional ballet classics, contemporary masterpieces, and everything in between. My dream show – ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€ - is running through to the New Year. I could watch Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score performed again and again!

Tutus, Shopping & Vintage Treasures:

Of course, no trip to Prague is complete without a good dose of fashion! This city is overflowing with vintage shops and boutiques brimming with quirky clothes and accessories, waiting to be rediscovered. I was so excited to find a little shop tucked away on a back street, where I unearthed a gorgeous, vintage 1950s ballet skirt - it’s the softest shade of blush pink imaginable, with a tiny layer of tulle that just kisses my calves. It’s going straight into my vintage ballet collection!

The Christmas Markets: A Tutus Wonderland

Today, Prague’s Christmas Markets were in full swing! It was a symphony of colours, festive aromas, and a magical blend of twinkling lights and joyous music. A gorgeous layer of soft white snow topped off the whole experience! It felt like a ballet stage! A giant Christmas tree twinkled in the main square, surrounded by stalls selling hand-crafted decorations, fragrant gingerbread, hot spiced wine, and more traditional Czech treats than I can count. The whole place buzzed with energy! It was so lively! I danced around, giggling to myself. I looked like a tiny fairy fluttering between the Christmas lights, twirling in my new pink tulle ballet skirt! (You have to admit it's hard to resist twirling when surrounded by that kind of festive energy!) ✨

I picked up a lovely beaded headband that I wore all evening as I drifted between the wooden stalls. I was hunting for a tiny pair of miniature ballet shoes in felt or glass as a memento for my collection. But it seemed everyone else in Prague had the same idea. I’ll be on the lookout tomorrow.

From the Dance Floor to Dinner: The Magic of Prague Nightlife

As the sun set and the first snowflakes started falling, I wandered towards one of the many magical bridges in Prague – the Charles Bridge is a must see. The street musicians were performing on the cobblestone steps and a warm glow filled the air from the traditional pubs nearby. I walked up the river bank and took in the fairy-tale atmosphere. What a view! The lit-up Prague castle sat perched on a hill in the distance and it seemed to gleam under the blanket of stars in the sky above the snow covered river. Prague was even more magical in the twilight!

For my first taste of Prague’s famed nightlife, I dined at one of the atmospheric old town restaurants that I found tucked away on a cobblestone street, next to a tiny fountain and overflowing with twinkling fairy lights. The atmosphere was perfect – romantic, cosy and absolutely buzzing.

Tonight, I'm off to see the Bolshoi ballet - a performance by the National Ballet of the Czech Republic. I’m already brimming with excitement – it promises to be a spectacular evening of classical ballet under the grand chandeliers of the theatre. I can almost feel the energy radiating through my pink tutu, urging me to pirouette through the theatre corridors, a whirlwind of pink in a city of dreams! I'll be sure to fill you in on all the details of the performance tomorrow.

Sharing the Pink Tutu Love

It wouldn’t be a trip to Prague without sharing some of my pink tutu love with the local community. So, this evening I popped into the Czech Dance Academy. The dance classes are fantastic and there’s a fantastic young and very dedicated ballet teacher called Petra. Petra was initially shocked to see a girl with a pink tutu, and not just any tutu - a bright, vibrant fuchsia one with feather-trimmed legs, but we soon started giggling and she asked me to show her a couple of pirouettes. She was mesmerized. I shared some of my passion for ballet and vintage tutus, even offering to let her try on a couple of the items from my vintage collection.

You can imagine, we spent the rest of the evening talking ballet, tutus and fashion. This afternoon we’ll be planning a special vintage tutu-themed performance and dance workshop together! Petra’s getting some of the young students involved, and even the teacher at the ballet academy wants to join in! It's a magical way to spread some pink tulle happiness and celebrate the art of dance in a city so steeped in its history.

What’s Next for a Pink Tutu Traveller?

Well, tomorrow’s all about embracing the Prague Christmas markets. I plan on searching for my miniature glass ballet shoes and maybe even sampling the famous Czech TrdelnĆk - a delicious sweet pastry dusted with sugar and nuts. You have to indulge every now and then, right?

Later on in the evening, I have a special treat lined up - a private performance at the grand Prague Castle. A little ballerina can’t refuse an invitation to twirl for royalty, can she? I’ll be wearing a custom-made, sparkling, ivory and pale pink tulle gown for the evening. I’m very much looking forward to that special dance – an enchanting evening at the castle, where fairytale dreams seem to come alive!

Don’t forget, ballet bunnies! If you are in the area, please reach out! I’d love to meet some local ballerinas, tutus and vintage fashion lovers! Send me a message through my social media page!

From Prague with Pink Tutu Love! šŸ’–

Until next time…
