Hello, my lovely tutu-loving darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the magical city of Prague!
This week, I'm taking you on a whirlwind tour of all things pink, tutus, and the extraordinary ballet scene in this beautiful Bohemian capital. Prague is truly a feast for the senses - from its charming cobbled streets to its iconic architecture, and of course, the incredibly vibrant cultural scene.
As a Derbyshire girl at heart, there's something wonderfully nostalgic about wandering the cobbled lanes of Prague. It feels like stepping back in time, but with a delightful modern twist.
But before we delve into the details, let me tell you a little secret… Prague was made for pink tutus! Seriously! It’s the perfect backdrop for my signature style.
A Pink Tutu in Prague? Absolutely!
Picture this: me, whirling through the city centre, my pale pink tulle billowing behind me like a delicate cloud, reflecting the warm golden glow of the setting sun. You know what? It's pure magic.
Prague’s rich history, enchanting architecture, and charming atmosphere create the most breathtaking ballet backdrop. I'm quite convinced I've fallen a little in love with this city, especially since it shares my deep love for everything pink!
A Ballet-Lover’s Paradise
Now, I’m sure you're dying to hear about the ballet scene in Prague. It's fantastic, my dears. I’ve already taken a couple of ballet classes at the Czech National Ballet, and wow! The standard of the dancers is unbelievable.
One thing I’ve noticed here is that Prague takes its ballet traditions very seriously. They also have a huge passion for ballet history, something I share, naturally!
Let’s Talk Tutus!
Did you know that tutus have a rich and fascinating history? Prague has some incredible vintage clothing shops, and I've been having a wonderful time discovering old dance books and photographs – it’s like a visual journey through the world of tutus. I actually found this amazing little shop, hidden away in a cobblestone courtyard, crammed with beautiful vintage ballet dresses and even a few stunning, old-fashioned tutus! My, oh, my, it was almost too much to handle, even for a self-proclaimed tutu fanatic!
And, speaking of history… did you know that Prague was home to some of the very first ballet schools? That’s right! Prague's dance tradition stretches way back to the Renaissance, when they were pioneering dance techniques, and the development of tutus – my absolute favourites!
My Diary: A Week of Ballet & Beauty
I’m staying in a darling little hotel, nestled in the heart of Prague's old town, near the Charles Bridge. The rooms are quaint and charming, with beautiful old-world furniture and of course, lots of lovely pink accents! They even provided a pink ballet ribbon for my hair - you see, Prague was made for me!
Here's my diary of the past few days, detailing my delightful journey:
Tuesday: A long, lovely train journey to Prague. I dressed the part for the journey – my most comfortable but undeniably pink and elegant outfit, my favourite floral print tutu, complete with a charming floral hat for the train journey. The journey was filled with picturesque views and I couldn’t resist whipping out my iPad for a couple of ballet tutorial videos. It's hard to resist perfecting those leaps when the train passes through a beautiful countryside!
Wednesday: An early start for my ballet class at the Czech National Ballet School. My first lesson in this charming city! The teacher was very patient and kind (even when my turns didn't quite go to plan – hey, nobody’s perfect!), and my fellow students were fantastic - especially when they shared some delightful tips for getting my pliés to look a little more graceful! The studio was beautifully equipped and it reminded me of my first lessons – there's nothing like a bit of nostalgic elegance! In the evening, I decided to take a leisurely stroll through the city, taking it all in with a glass of the local sparkling wine. The street was abuzz with life, laughter and light – you know me, I even managed to find a little local bakery that made beautiful pink rose cupcakes. They were divine!
Thursday: It was a morning of exploring, visiting all the incredible historical sights of the city. The Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and the Old Town Square… oh my, each place was a symphony of history, beauty, and romance. I couldn't resist taking a million photos – for my Instagram, naturally!
Friday: I dedicated the day to shopping in the city’s vibrant old town. I found an adorable vintage shop and snagged a few amazing pastel-pink sweaters and a fluffy feather boa – which you’ll be seeing on my Instagram feed very soon! You simply cannot go to Prague without indulging in a little bit of vintage shopping – it’s a paradise for pink and frilly fashion! Later on, I indulged in a delicious afternoon tea, topped with delicate pastries that felt like a delightful sugar dream.
Saturday: Time for the grand highlight of the week! A spectacular ballet performance at the National Theatre featuring a gorgeous rendition of the beautiful 'Swan Lake'. The sheer talent and artistry of the dancers, the magical music, and the breathtaking staging… it was an incredible evening. Honestly, my heart felt as if it were doing pirouettes with all the wonder!
Sunday: A leisurely day of strolling, sightseeing, and indulging in the delicious traditional cuisine of Prague. Oh my, you HAVE to try their famous roasted pork knuckles and local beers – they are divine. And don’t forget the decadent, chocolate-laden dessert called “Smetana!”
Fashion in Prague
Prague has a very interesting and unique style. I've noticed the girls love their pretty florals, vintage designs and of course, pastel shades. Prague has a charming sense of vintage elegance and modern Bohemian style all blended together!
But of course, my outfit game was as strong as ever – every day, a new pink tutu with a fresh and exciting twist! On Tuesday, it was my pretty floral tutu with my cream ballet shoes and a little straw hat. On Wednesday, it was my gorgeous vintage-inspired tutu with sparkly ballerina shoes. Oh, the excitement! And Friday was, of course, my very favourite - the billowing, luxurious tutu with delicate ruffles! I mean, I wouldn't expect anything less for a shopping day in this stunning city, wouldn’t you agree?
My Favourite Find: The Vintage Dance Shop
This charming shop, hidden away on a quiet, winding street, is truly a little treasure! Imagine stepping into a fairytale wonderland. Rows upon rows of beautiful costumes and vintage ballet shoes. I picked up a beautiful old-fashioned tutu, all cream silk and frills – the ultimate addition to my tutu collection! It was like finding a lost masterpiece, a tiny piece of history.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s blog, my dears. As you all know, I have my website updated every week – every Wednesday you’ll find a new pink adventure. And don’t forget, keep those lovely tutu-loving photos coming. If you want your photos featured on my page, don’t hesitate to DM me! Until next time, be fabulous!

P.S: If you’re ever in Prague, be sure to check out the National Theatre for an incredible ballet performance. You won't be disappointed. The programme schedule is always changing, and their website lists their dates for the performance schedule, so keep your eyes peeled!
P.P.S: Remember, if you dream it, you can wear it! You are absolutely stunning and a tutu can be your canvas for expression. So rock those pretty tutus and keep sharing the magic of dancing.
Until next time,
Emma
