Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, and I'm absolutely buzzing to be in Prague for this week's blog post! This city is such a dream! Cobblestone streets, fairytale architecture, and enough stunning historical buildings to make my head spin! It's all a little bit 'Sound of Music' in a very good way. ?
This week, I've been exploring Prague like a giddy child. Honestly, I’m finding it so hard to keep this post under 3200 words - there is simply so much to say about Prague. But I will try my best! And speaking of trying my best… my favourite thing about being in Prague? The ballet scene! The dancing is magnificent. They make our Derbyshire Ballet Club look like a bunch of awkward toddlers. ? I just adore it - they're truly skilled and graceful - a delight to the eyes.
So let me tell you all about my latest ballet adventures in Prague...
Pink-tutu-fying the Prague Ballet scene ??
I arrived in Prague by train on Friday, feeling fabulous in my pink silk shirt and tutu combo (I always try to incorporate pink tutus whenever possible, you know!), and was swept away by the city's undeniable charm! That evening, I found myself at the beautiful Prague National Theatre. Oh, my! The ornate interior, with its grand chandelier and velvet-covered seats, made my heart soar!
I'd heard rumours that the ballet here was a real treat and boy oh boy, they weren’t exaggerating! I was mesmerized by "Giselle" - the storytelling, the dancing, the stunning costumes... I almost wept when the beautiful, graceful ballerina held her final pose.
Prague, it seems, is bursting with ballet activity. This was just the beginning! Next day, I treated myself to an afternoon ballet class in a beautiful studio adorned with blush pink décor and gorgeous chandeliers. It felt just right! The studio had an incredible vibe, and my class, with dancers of all levels, were just as enthusiastic and full of life. The teacher, a charming blonde in a tutu of course, (I just had to have a chat about our shared love for the twirling accessory!), reminded me of some of the amazing ballet teachers in Derbyshire when I was growing up. It was truly a delightful experience. I think the class found my pink tutu rather inspiring, even the guys. One of them confessed he’d love to see the look in the ballet theatre and said, “Your tutu certainly gives our tutus some much needed ‘pinkification’”. ?
Later that evening, I headed for a charming little bistro. Tucked away on a quiet side street, it had walls painted in my favourite hue (it's an almost neon shade of pink - fabulous), and they offered the best Hungarian Goulash I’ve ever tasted - oh so comforting. And did I tell you about their dessert? A fluffy pink chocolate cake, sprinkled with delicate petals - it was almost too pretty to eat... almost! ?
Finding treasures in Prague’s Fashion Paradise ??
Prague has seriously got a flair for fashion. This city is definitely not about beige - it's all about bright colours and fun, feminine style, especially with vintage flair - something I am always on the lookout for. On Monday morning, I decided to delve into the world of Prague's vintage boutiques and designer outlets. It was heaven!
First stop - “Boutique Marie”, a chic little shop bursting with unique garments, hats, and scarves. This shop really appealed to my inner vintage-loving, stylish-and-unique-clothing kind of self! The owner was a delightful older woman who gave me all the vintage style advice - she even offered me some free-of-charge beauty tips, the old school kind - a secret beauty recipe that used lemon and a dash of lavender (who knew!) I picked up a beautiful turquoise vintage dress with an unusual pattern – I will totally pair it up with my pink tutu for next week’s post, watch this space!
Then it was onto a stylish department store, "Národní” . You might not find pink tutus in there (though they did have the most beautiful selection of hats! ) but I snagged a fabulous pair of scarlet leather shoes that were just screaming my name! ?
As a little side note, I’m still obsessed with my “Pink Ballet Dream” shoes I picked up last week - remember that sparkly ballet slipper I featured? The “sparkle-factor” and “pinkitude” just adds a bit of glam to my pink tutus, every outfit just gets a sprinkle of fun - especially the new turquoise dress I picked up in Prague, you’ll have to see my “OOTD”!
And to top off my fashion explorations, I had the absolute pleasure of discovering an exclusive designer boutique - “Fashionista’s Heaven” – it's filled with stunningly designed clothes and accessories for the bold and the fashionable - I did treat myself to a vintage inspired, silk-lined, pale pink clutch - you have to believe me, this clutch is going to take my wardrobe to a whole new level. It’s definitely a “statement piece”!
My Prague Wishlist - More Fun, Fashion and Pink! ?
Speaking of which, the next week in Prague is going to be fabulous! I can't wait to share my experiences with you lovelies. My plans include:
More ballet, obviously! I've heard tell of an incredible dance production based on Czech folklore - it's called "The Dancing Flowers" and I just have to see it! The story and music sound breathtaking and just my cup of tea! I imagine myself there with my ballet partner, twirling around in a pink tutu and having the time of my life! It's even possible the production will have an “Emma style” pink tutu design – I may even get a chance to create a costume! How fantastic is that?!
A little food-for-thought… I’m going to visit one of the city’s iconic markets - it sounds divine! I can just see myself nibbling on pastries with a dollop of fluffy cream whilst sipping my morning latte - perfection!
Tutu Shopping! Yes, I must find the ultimate pink tutu to complement my fabulous new vintage wardrobe. Prague, it's my calling to help make the world more pink! I'm so sure I will find the most stunning pink tutus in all of Prague.
Meeting the Local Tutu Enthusiasts… Yes, I know they are out there – and who knows – I may even convince the most staunch tutu hater to give the fabulousness of the tutu a go – in pink, of course!
This weekend, I’m off to “Castle Hill” with the new boyfriend - yes, life is great right now! (And a side note, my new boyfriend loves to see me in my tutus, which is super-important for my tutu aspirations – thank you Lord!) I promise to show you all the most stunning photos of Prague from Castle Hill. I’m even going to dress up for the photos, “Pink tutu fashion for a Prague view” – maybe a little cheeky beret too - wouldn’t want to go too far over the top though – pink is very powerful!
Join me next week for more Prague adventures and fashion fun! In the meantime, you can catch me on Instagram (you know I’m all about the “#PinkTutuLifestyle” on my Insta posts!). And don't forget to head to www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday, my darling tutu enthusiasts!
Lots of pink love,
Emma.
