Hello my darling tutus! It's Wednesday, and that means a fresh new post for you on www.pink-tutu.com - right here in your inbox!
I’m Emma, a girl from Derbyshire who just loves all things pink and twirly. I am a bit obsessed with ballet and of course, the tutu! So, when I'm not doing a pirouette at the barre or dancing my heart out onstage, I'm here, sharing my love of ballet with the world, one pink tutu at a time. Today, I’m posting from Prague, the stunning City of a Hundred Spires. It’s a truly beautiful place, with its cobbled streets, breathtaking architecture, and a whole heap of culture - it just so happens that this week there’s a spectacular ballet happening! I couldn't wait to tell you all about it, so, I grabbed my most gorgeous, shimmering, rose-gold tutu, jumped on the train and travelled straight here, all for this wonderful, vibrant experience!
Getting here was half the fun
So, let’s talk trains, shall we? Because this adventure wouldn’t be complete without a whistle stop tour on my favourite mode of transport - the train! I do love a good, long journey with a stunning view zipping by. I just find there’s something so magical and peaceful about looking out at the rolling countryside. The Derbyshire landscape I knew was already gorgeous, and all of England, I felt sure, was equally lovely – then you just add the romance of being on a train, whizzing towards the beautiful City of a Hundred Spires… The thought had me literally giddy with anticipation.
I felt it was only fitting, with a train journey, to dress up to match. Not that I ever travel in less than my absolute best, but, today I decided that, given my destination, it called for a pink-hued, ruffled top, and my absolute best tulle tutu (as if there could be such a thing!), paired with white lace tights and gorgeous rose-gold ballet flats that I knew I was going to wear till my toes twirled off! It was just the right amount of flair for a stylish trip to a stunningly beautiful place.
And honestly, when you're on a journey with a ballet show to look forward to at the end, who wouldn’t want to make their trip extra special? After all, even the journey deserves a good dose of pink-tutu magic!
Prague… so far, so stunning
Prague has exceeded all my expectations. As soon as the train pulled in, it felt so vibrant! As I hopped out and was surrounded by beautiful historic architecture and bustling cafes. Everyone seems so relaxed and cheerful here, it's really contagious! There’s so much beauty in this city, it’s breathtaking. And the way it all just flows together, ancient history with contemporary energy, is so captivating, that I have been here only for two days and I already want to live here!
You can find so much pretty things to see – the charming old streets, gorgeous cafes filled with light and laughter… Every shop, every doorway, every cobblestone, whispers its history in a fascinating language that just wants you to discover it all.
Getting around
Prague is a great city to get around, by walking! And since this weekend is a ballet extravaganza, I even took a stroll past the National Theatre (such gorgeous architecture!). You could sense the joy that theatre gives people from a mile away - even walking past you feel the energy of the performances, the joy and happiness it brings. Of course, I knew that Prague would be my kind of city because Prague, of course, boasts a thriving ballet scene. This made my little heart, and indeed my little tutu, do a happy little skip!
Today, I also got to see the city from a horse-drawn carriage… I took a ride on a lovely gentle, pony – called ‘Sugar’ (such a perfectly fitting name!), the little darling seemed so excited to show off her beautiful city. What a treat to take a trot around while wearing a fabulous floral pink skirt and a delicate, shimmering pink tulle tutu that bounced merrily with every move.
Shopping at a balletshop in Prague
But now, let’s move onto something that’s even more fun – shops! Because the biggest treat was that I was able to indulge my favourite hobby. Here in Prague, I found a shop which was just made for my pink tutu-loving heart: a beautiful little ballet boutique called “Ballet Dreams” - It had an absolutely massive, stunning collection of beautiful tutus – it really was dream come true. From classic ballet tutus in beautiful shades of blush pink and pale mauve to stunning modern styles, it was absolute bliss just to look at it all. It took a great deal of willpower to not simply scoop up the entire collection – and trust me, I thought long and hard about it. But alas, my suitcase (already filled to the brim with shoes!) just couldn’t handle it! Instead, I bought a delightful pink tutu for myself - a gorgeous, soft, pastel, rose pink with lovely lace and tulle - absolutely the perfect choice to bring a little Prague glamour home. I already have plans for wearing it as I step off the train back to Derbyshire tomorrow…
Tonight is the big night
After that beautiful and stylish shopping trip, there was one more thing to do to top it off... a final visit to a theatre - the stunning theatre here, just a stone's throw from the beautiful Hotel Corinthia! I've booked a spot right near the stage, in the balcony. It's a real classic theatre, and I know it's going to be magical!
Tonight's show is a must-see – The Czech Ballet will be showcasing a delightful piece of classical ballet in the programme tonight, “The Nutcracker”. I am really excited to see it, it’s one of my favourite classics. The stories are so beautiful, and of course, you get the dazzling beauty of all that tulle - just perfection!
Stay tuned for my next post
Well, this is me saying goodbye for now, I've got a date with a lovely pink tutu tonight and ‘The Nutcracker’ - which will be magical, of course. So, I will let you know all about it in my next post.
Oh! One final thing. Did I mention, that one of my big dreams in life is to have everyone dancing in pink tutus, in every country, around the world? This blog, this whole journey, that’s what I want to make happen…
I’m sharing all of this with you because I know there’s a little pink-tutu loving soul out there somewhere who wants to spread the joy, who just needs a little bit of magic in their lives - a little nudge to unleash that inner sparkle. And hopefully, by sharing my little stories with you, you’ll find a bit of that magic, maybe find the courage to find your own spark, and maybe even find yourself wearing your very own gorgeous pink tutu!
Till next time, be kind, be loving, and most importantly – dance like no-one is watching,
Emma
