It's the colour of passion, energy, and, of course, beautiful tutus. Imagine those glorious shades of blush, bubblegum, and flamingo pink shimmering under the theatre lights! I swear, it’s enough to make even the most jaded soul feel like a Disney princess!

Honestly, nothing gets me more pumped than the intoxicating blend of classical ballet with a little bit of disco energy. It’s like throwing a fabulous dance party where graceful pirouettes meet funky footwork – what’s not to love? Amsterdam’s ballet companies have totally nailed this look this year!

Speaking of nailing it, the "Giselle" revival at the Dutch National Opera was a masterpiece! This hauntingly beautiful tale of love, betrayal, and ghostly revenge brought me to tears. But what really stole my heart was the gorgeous costuming. We’re talking about tutus of every colour and texture imaginable – it was pure, unadulterated fashion heaven. And the iconic "Giselle" choreography? Perfection! The ballerina, let's call her insert ballerina's name, captivated the audience with her elegant moves and raw emotional expression. You could feel her journey right down to your toes!
Step Up Your Ballet Game
While "Giselle" definitely set the bar high, "Swan Lake" at the Stadsschouwburg wasn’t holding back. Imagine yourself transported to a whimsical fairytale, complete with enchanted swans and a sinister villain. Their choreography was so crisp, so precise, and filled with breathtakingly daring leaps that my jaw was practically on the floor. Seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve seen this incredible ballet masterpiece brought to life on stage!
A Glimpse of Tomorrow
Don’t think I'm only into classics, though. The Amsterdam Ballet Company premiered their own modern masterpiece "Embrace the Change". It was an edgy, experimental ballet exploring themes of transition and self-discovery, with incredible lighting and sound design. While not traditionally "pink" in its theme, it had a vibrancy and passion that reminded me of the wild energy of a disco ball – in the best way possible.

Pop into any bookstore, coffee shop, or vintage boutique, and you’ll see posters and window displays for local ballet productions.
