The Bristol Hippodrome's production of Swan Lake had me utterly mesmerized. I don't think I stopped smiling for the whole show. It felt classic yet fresh, with modern flourishes that truly elevated the performance. The final act, oh my, just blew me away. That climactic duet, with Odette and Siegfried reaching towards each other in despair – it was pure drama and sheer perfection.
Speaking of perfection, let's talk Matthew Bourne's "Swan Lake" at the Bristol Old Vic, a stunning, daring, and poignant reimagining of the classic story. There's no traditional ballerina in sight, just a troupe of men taking on the role of the swans with breathtaking athleticism and emotional depth. This wasn't your grandma’s Swan Lake, folks!
For a true blast of disco energy, I'd recommend the new contemporary work "Night Fever" at the Tobacco Factory. It's like a joyous explosion of high kicks, funky moves, and a celebration of everything fabulous about disco music. Plus, the costumes were seriously amazing! I mean, glitter galore – just everything a disco lover could dream of!
