Broadstairs: Where the Winter Ballet Magic Truly Shines!

Hello lovelies! It's your girl, Emma, back with another post. I just had to share my thoughts on the incredible Winter Ballet season in Broadstairs. If you're looking for a truly magical experience that'll lift your spirits, you need to get yourself to the theatre this December.

First things first, Broadstairs just screams winter magic, you know? The sea air, the bracing winds, those gorgeous cliffside walks… it sets the stage for an utterly delightful ballet experience. Plus, I swear the cold just makes everything sparkle a bit more! And talking about sparkle, darling… have you seen the tutus this year? They’re simply divine. From the elegant shimmer of The Nutcracker's snowflakes to the bold and bright pink in Swan Lake, the colours and textures are absolutely captivating.

I was blown away by the sheer artistry and passion of the dancers. I’m talking some seriously phenomenal moves here! Each pirouette was like a perfect pirouette. And every leap? So graceful, so effortless, so full of power. And the expressions! Honestly, every single dancer channeled their characters, I was completely entranced. It’s just a joy to watch them in action, their faces aglow under the warm stage lights.

Of course, no ballet review is complete without talking about the music! And here in Broadstairs, they don't disappoint. Every performance I went to featured live orchestral music, which adds a whole new dimension to the show. And they even managed to sneak in some of my favourite disco tracks for the closing acts – totally unexpected and so fun.

Speaking of fun, let’s not forget the beautiful costumes! I know we’ve already gushed over the tutus, but the rest of the ensembles were just as striking. The Victorian dresses in The Nutcracker? To die for! The warrior costumes in Swan Lake? Perfectly evocative. And the details? Exquisite! Feathers, sequins, velvet… every costume was meticulously designed and handcrafted.

It's clear the whole team poured their heart and soul into this winter season. From the dancers to the musicians to the costumers, it's a true labour of love that’s really inspiring. Honestly, seeing such a dedicated group of artists at their best just makes my heart sing. It’s all the validation I need for my lifelong ballet dream.

Of course, I have to give a shout-out to the Broadstairs audience. You’re always so enthusiastic, clapping along to the music, and generally just embracing the whole atmosphere of wonder and delight. You make every show feel extra special, and I feel truly blessed to be a part of your community.

Now, before I sign off, I'd be remiss if I didn't give some tips to the fellow ballet enthusiasts out there:

  • Dress the part! A cozy scarf and gloves will keep you warm, and don’t be afraid to wear a bold lip colour. I always bring a touch of pink – you can’t go wrong with a splash of femininity!
  • Plan ahead! Book your tickets online. It’s easy to do, and you’ll be guaranteed your spot. I tend to book last minute, just so you know… and they usually still have some seats left!
  • Let go and embrace the magic! The ballet season is a special time to reconnect with your inner child. So relax, unwind, and enjoy the magic unfold before your very eyes.

So there you have it! The Winter Ballet season in Broadstairs is a must-see, especially if you’re looking for an elegant escape from the daily grind. The stunning performances, captivating costumes, and exhilarating music are all the ingredients for a perfect night out. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go try on my very pink, very sparkly outfit and book myself tickets for tomorrow’s performance!

Until next time, stay sparkly, my dears!

Emma
