Nottingham: Tutu Season is Here!
Oh, hello my fellow tutu lovers! Emma here, and the air is getting crisp, the leaves are turning brown, and you know what that means? It's tutu season, baby!
The Nottingham Winter Ballet lineup has arrived, and let me tell you, this year it's pinktastic. Seriously, they’ve got the colour popping like a disco ball on New Year's Eve. Honestly, I think I’ve had my fair share of pink during the year, but these choreographers just know how to make a girl’s heart flutter.
We’ve kicked things off with Swan Lake, a timeless classic. You’ve all seen it, right? But this time they've really gone all out with the set design. I mean, imagine a lake covered in ice with holographic swan feathers swirling all over the stage? Just the sheer volume of sparkly pink sequins used on the tutu alone was enough to make you faint (not really, but you get my drift, right?).
Next up is The Nutcracker - another show that’s got the crowd going wild every year, and trust me, it’s about to get even wilder. The Mouse King and the Nutcracker are all decked out in silver glitter this year - what’s even more impressive is how they’ve totally nailed the new snow-globe scene: you practically felt the chill of winter on your skin as you watch those fluffy flakes falling in slow-motion.
But hold on to your hats, ladies! There's another treat in store for us - the world premiere of a brand new production. And get this, it's all about a girl who loves sparkly disco-themed tutus and her magical adventures through the decades. Seriously! Now that's what I'm talking about, don’t be surprised if everyone in the audience joins the big finale on stage when they all come out with glitter and tinsel!
Nottingham's been killing it with the music choices too, not gonna lie. They've been going all out with some classic, yet bold selections, and have even given the Tchaikovsky scores a modern revamp. Think disco beats with a dash of soaring orchestral harmonies that'll make you want to shimmy and shake your feathers - that's right, we're going full on ‘70s glamour, baby!
Honestly, I think we’re in for the best Tutu Season yet. It’s like a dream come true - the choreography is killer, the costumes are out-of-this-world, the music will make you want to twirl and dance, and even if you haven't seen a ballet before, you'll have a *ball at this one! *
Don’t forget to snap pics and tag me with #tutuwinter #tutuseason and show off your own tutu fashion. This season, we’re making ballet even more stylish and fun. See you there! xx
Why Nottingham is My Tutu WonderlandHere's the lowdown on what makes Nottingham my go-to place for some seriously sparkling tutu time.
- The Theatre Royale is just… stunning. Okay, yes, the building itself has its own architectural charm, with its historical vibe and grandeur, but this theatre really knows how to bring ballet to life. They’ve got incredible lighting, which seriously makes everything sparkle. Plus, you get the best view from every seat! So you can have the perfect selfie opportunity.
- It’s so easy to get around. Forget parking hassles or expensive taxis. Nottingham city centre is absolutely walkable, and they've got great transport links too.
