Let’s face it, The Nutcracker is a must-see for every winter season, and this year, Rochester Ballet certainly did it justice. I literally gasped when the curtain rose to reveal a wonderland of twinkling Christmas lights and fluffy snow - a setting truly worthy of the Sugarplum Fairy! The choreography was sublime, blending the traditional with new flourishes that kept me glued to my seat. And oh, the tutus! From the whimsical swirls of the Snowflakes to the delicate perfection of the Sugarplum Fairy's dress, the costuming was simply divine. I, personally, fell head over heels for the playful charm of the Mouse King's entourage - it's like something out of a fairytale, complete with adorable furry ears and sparkly costumes.
