Oh Darling! It's a brand new month and I simply must share with you all the wonderful new designs in ballet wear hitting the stage this month. So grab your tea, your cashmere shawl and let's take a delightful journey around the globe!
London, London, London! First stop, my home city, oh darling! Where else to begin than the home of the Royal Ballet? I simply adore the costumes for their upcoming production of "Giselle." They are simply sublime and elegant with their soft pastels and intricate detailing. The pale blush pink tulle skirts for the Wilis float across the stage as if on clouds, while the earthy browns and rich reds of the peasants bring out the passion and drama of the story. I just adore the gorgeous beaded details and embellishments that really make this production one to remember! And then of course, we have the men, absolutely devastating in their sleek, dark-colored tights and matching jackets. Absolutely swoon-worthy.
From the Land of Baguettes, A Touch of Chic! Now, Paris. My darlings, what more could one want from the City of Lights? For this season's production of Swan Lake, The Paris Opera Ballet have given the costumes a real refresh! They've taken the classic tutus and transformed them with luxurious, silken fabrics that flow effortlessly. The white swan costumes have been given a modern edge with a touch of silver that creates such an ethereal, otherworldly feeling. And what's more, I am so taken by the rich, dark black of the black swan costumes. Oh! It’s so daring and decadent. It speaks to me, my dear friends, a beautiful duality and complexity. Truly, a touch of chic!
The Heartbeat of New York! New York! This dazzling metropolis is, as always, setting the standard for sheer brilliance in its costume designs! You'll absolutely love what the New York City Ballet have done with their recent production of "Romeo and Juliet." The costumes really reflect the emotional rollercoaster of this passionate love story! For example, the costumes of Juliet, oh, how divine! With delicate blush hues, and an array of beautiful laces. So romantic! The design captures perfectly the innocence of her young love. And the men in the production, with their earthy and earthy toned leotards, speak to me of strength and virility, yet also possess such vulnerability. A very effective look, darling, especially during the dramatic sword fights! The sheer emotion and drama of the costumes perfectly mirrors the timeless and compelling Shakespearean story.
From the Land of the Rising Sun... Now, we take a flight all the way to Japan, darling! Here in Tokyo, they really know how to showcase the art of traditional ballet costumes. I was so excited when I saw the production of "The Sleeping Beauty." The ballerinas absolutely stole the show with their vibrant costumes. I loved the lavish costumes of the princesses - gorgeous layers of silks, velvets, and shimmering jewels, evoking a sense of beauty, majesty, and elegance. And my oh my, what about those headpieces? Oh darling, divine! All those exquisite embellishments...a visual feast, it was!

How To Elevate Your Everyday Style
- Swans in the City: Grab a beautiful chiffon top and pair it with a simple A-line skirt or skinny jeans. A subtle shimmer or elegant lace detail on the top adds the perfect ballerina touch!
- Twirl to New Heights: Embrace the flow of the skirt! Opt for skirts with graceful movement and elegant detailing. Be it pleats, tiers or lace. Embrace those long graceful lines, it makes you look simply divine. And for those of you wanting a more contemporary approach, try layering an ultra-feminine tulle skirt with a tough leather jacket and boots! A fab combination!
- Ballet Chic Footwear: A classic ballerina flat can elevate your look from casual to effortlessly stylish. Don’t be afraid to add some delicate embellishments! Or maybe consider a pointed pump, especially for evening looks. They just radiate such refined, effortless chic.
- Add a Dash of Lace: Oh Darling! This timeless detail really gives you an air of sophistication, and it makes it just so effortless to make your look ballerina-inspired! Lace on a dress, lace on a blouse, even a touch of delicate lace trimming your skirt, makes an absolute statement. It's simple, it's elegant and so captivating.
