From the cobbled streets of Paris to the glittering stage lights of New York, the world of dance has truly been on fire! Let's dive into this month's glittering selection, shall we?
PARIS - LES ETOILES OF THE OPERA
Paris! The City of Lights always beckons me, especially during the season for the legendary Opera Ballet. My dear friend Marie-Chantal, the most stylish ballerina I know, and I spent a divine week taking in the exquisite offerings. A standout performance was "La Bayadere" - such romanticism! The corps de ballet in their white tutus, fluttering like the finest swans, and the divine Nikolai Tsiskaridze - oh, those leaps, his strength, the way he captured the passion of the character - breathtaking! We dined with the most fabulous Parisian ladies at Laduree afterward, naturally, sipping on champagne and dreaming of our next performance.
LONDON - A DREAMY "GISELLES"
Then, it was off to London for a week of enchantment! Now, London has its own undeniable charm and a royal ambiance that you simply can't find anywhere else. The Royal Ballet has always held a special place in my heart, and "Giselle," one of the greatest romantic ballets, is a masterpiece! Darling, Darcey Bussell - her portrayal of the sweet, fragile Giselle - pure poetry! Her tears flowed like molten silver as the heartbroken Giselle danced into the arms of her love - it was a truly unforgettable moment! We spent an afternoon sipping Earl Grey at Harrods afterwards, picking up some heavenly little treasures for my ballet bag, of course. The royal family should be commended for supporting such an artistic legacy.
NEW YORK - AN ELECTRIFYING "CHOREOGRAPHY GALA"
Ah, New York! The energy! The hustle! It was invigorating and exhilarating. I simply had to see the "Choreography Gala," a smorgasbord of talent. Each piece was distinct and bold, the creative energy so raw. The dancers, absolutely magnificent. One standout was the dynamic work by Christopher Wheeldon, who choreographed with such elegance and power. The finale, a dazzling "Stars & Stripes," set our hearts soaring and was the perfect tribute to this fabulous city.
