Darling, it's February, the month of love! What better way to celebrate this month than with some of the most beautiful, sensual, and passionate art forms out there? Ballet, darling, ballet! ?āØ I've been flitting around the world, soaking in all the latest productions, and let me tell you, this season has been absolutely *divine*. From the classic to the avant-garde, from Paris to New York, the stage has been buzzing with exquisite performances that have left me absolutely enthralled. **Parisian Delights:** * First stop, Paris, the city of lights! I'm sure you can't imagine a more elegant backdrop for the ballet than the **Palais Garnier**, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture. I caught **"Giselle"** by the **Paris Opera Ballet**, and darling, I nearly fainted from sheer delight! The choreography was so beautiful, and the costumes, just dreamy! The two Giselle's, **Alice Renavand** and **DorothĆ©e Gilbert**, were absolutely sensational, so expressive, they really made you feel Giselleās pain, her love, and her tragic end. I had chills! * Next up, the **"Black Swan"** at the **Grand Rex** with **"Starmania"**. Now, "Starmania", you know I adore that whole eighties nostalgia! The "Black Swan", darling, they always pick such juicy, erotic pieces - Iāve been a fan since the days of "The Nutcracker" on the **Palais Garnier** stage! Of course, the costumes are divine. All black feathers, silk, leather, dripping with drama, and the lightsā¦ theyāre pure genius! But there was one particular performance in the cast which stole my heart. **LaĆ«titia Lhomme** as a temptress? Darling, this girl was absolutely captivating. She moved like water, her every gesture radiating power and a simmering sensuality, and her performance was an absolute masterpiece! I can't wait for the next "Starmania" production. **New York, New York** *Across the pond, in the concrete jungle of New York City, it was all about the contemporary. Now I love a bit of a traditional classic but New York City is always a great place to get my fill of the cutting edge of modern dance and the **New York City Ballet** doesnāt disappoint. I loved " **The Dream**", a 1921 Balanchine ballet - his early, experimental work is really beautiful, the dancers all seemed to float and there is such fluidity in his choreography - and at **NYCB** , where every single dancer brings so much talent, that fluidity translates so beautifully! The **Brooklyn Academy of Music** had me gripped by a performance by **Akram Khan**, one of the leading lights in contemporary dance. His " **Desh** " a fusion of Kathak (an Indian dance form) and contemporary ballet made you sit up and take notice with itās combination of elegant lines and ferocious, physical intensity - simply incredible. **Across the World: A Global Ballet Ballet Adventure:** * But darling, it wasn't just the big cities that were making waves! My travels took me to Vienna, where the **Vienna State Ballet** put on a sensational production of ā **Romeo and Juliet**. You know thatās always a bit of a risk for me, this being my birth place, but it was fantastic - and the fact that they picked one of my favorite pieces and that **Natalia Osipova**, that little flame, was a captivating Julietā¦well I just felt Iād gone home to the most amazing ballet party! * Now the thing about going to different parts of the world to watch ballets, darling, is that you experience a whole new energy in the culture, in the artistsā¦that energy radiates through the performances! From Vienna to Milan to **Stuttgart Ballet** where ā**Oneginā ** is on the program ā oh, I loved that production, youāve never seen more elegant male dancers ā I simply love to see these graceful movements with that raw intensity on stage - It's just intoxicating! Of course, I made a stop in Moscow. The **Bolshoi Theater** has always held a special place in my heart. I couldn't miss their legendary production of ā **Swan Lake**ā, you know, they do the classics so well, darling. They put the āgrandā in grand ballet. Londonās Burning * Oh darling, there is a real fire and passion in **The Royal Ballet** at **The Royal Opera House**, and of course, Iāve been an avid follower for years! Weāre lucky to have so many excellent dancers here in London but even the ones that do come up for awards each year can still amaze with their performances, their dedication and commitment to the craft! Itās an incredible community in which to be involved. My last stop, darling, was London! What better way to wrap up this ballet extravaganza than with the exquisite "**Sleeping Beauty**" at **The Royal Opera House**? That theatre is just *heaven* with itās ornate and beautiful decor - you canāt help but be transported into another era, and of course, the ballets and dancers at **The Royal Ballet** make you forget you are actually in London at all, let alone surrounded by a crowd! **The Power of Ballet: Beauty, Passion, and Beyond:** So, darling, the February ballet season is about to close! Ballet, to me, it's not just about leaps and pirouettes. It's about emotions, stories, beauty, and power, itās pure, raw talent at work and a skill I have such respect and admiration for. Each ballet I watch evokes an array of emotions, makes you lose yourself for those few short hours in a story of passion, joy, and tragedy. And isnāt it amazing? We can experience all of this around the globe! Each dance company has its own unique story and culture to share - and every one has given me something unique, from a deep joy and thrill from seeing some of my favorites on stage, to a renewed appreciation of this fantastic form! But enough about me. Now tell me all about your own February ballet adventures, darling. Let's celebrate this amazing art form together! ?
