Pink Tutu Rome: #7 Ciao Bella!

Hey lovely lot,

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! I'm Emma, and I'm your resident pink-tutu-clad ballerina on a whirlwind tour of the Eternal City! This week, let's take a trip to the heart of Roman magic, filled with history, glamour, and, of course, fabulous fashion!

A Week in Pink

It's been a week of dazzling sights and even more dazzling outfits (oh, the temptation, the temptation!), with each day more vibrant and beautiful than the last. This week's motto? Embrace the Pink!

The Roman Train

After the breathtaking (and exhausting) train journey through the Alps, I was utterly delighted to arrive in Rome! Honestly, travelling by train is a pure joy. The panoramic views and the quiet rhythm of the train create a perfect haven for dreaming and imagining. And, let's be honest, a train allows for a whole lot of outfit changes without the awkwardness of airport security. 😉

Discovering The Pantheon

As the sun streamed through the "oculus" of the Pantheon, a celestial light bathed the magnificent dome and the ancient Roman marble. The building itself is a marvel - a perfect blend of awe-inspiring architecture and a sense of serenity. My blush pink silk tulle tutu (think a light dusting of sugared almonds) swirled around me as I walked in awe beneath the grand dome.

A Dress of Golden Sand

Afterwards, it was on to Piazza Navona, where the energy of the city pulsated around me. There's something truly magical about this square. With its street performers and lively atmosphere, it's a tapestry woven from the vibrant colours of street fashion and centuries of history. I chose a flowy, sunset-toned linen dress, shimmering like a ripple on a sun-kissed ocean, perfectly echoing the Roman sunset.

An Afternoon at The Galleria Borghese

A walk through the beautiful gardens of the Galleria Borghese, where art masterpieces sit nestled amongst statues, fountains, and manicured gardens, was like stepping into a Renaissance dreamscape. The serene beauty of Bernini's "Apollo and Daphne" captivated me; such a potent testament to the power of love and beauty. This day called for a crisp, white tutu - pure, elegant, and eternally timeless.

Trevi Fountain

Let’s talk magic. The Trevi Fountain! With a toss of a coin and a whispered wish, I bathed in the cool water, its coolness refreshing my soul after a day of exploration. Did you know that if you throw a coin over your left shoulder with your right hand, you're guaranteed to return to Rome one day? Let's just say my left shoulder is well acquainted with my right hand now! This enchanting moment called for a splash of drama; my ruby-red tulle tutu swirled and twirled like a captivating red wine.

Opera at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

Tonight, the spotlight shines on opera! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma hosted a grand evening of Verdi's La Traviata. This, my dears, is where my passion for pink tutus found its match – a sea of tulle, sequins, and jewels. From the moment I arrived, a breathtaking symphony of beauty unfurled, filling me with such joy. My silver sequined tulle tutu, dancing with the soft lights and the magic of the evening, allowed me to twirl alongside the melodies.

Shopping in the heart of Rome

What would a trip to Rome be without indulging in its vibrant fashion scene? From Via Condotti's high-end boutiques to the bustling markets, Rome’s fashion scene offers something for everyone, and my dear, I am everyone! Shopping was an exhilarating experience; a swirl of luxurious silks and colourful textures, and I must admit, a whole lot of pink! (Don't tell my bank manager!).

Delicious, Delectable Rome

No journey through Italy would be complete without a delightful feast. Whether indulging in the exquisite pastas, sampling the divine pizzas, or simply enjoying an ice-cream under the Roman sun, every bite was a symphony of taste. And let's not forget the limoncello. Oh, the limoncello! It was a taste of heaven with a slight kick! I even attempted to learn how to make my own with a friendly local woman! (Maybe next time…!)

Pink Tutu Tips

My lovelies, a little pink tutu wisdom for your upcoming journeys.

  • Embrace the unexpected. Embrace spontaneity! Wander down uncharted alleys, lose yourself in conversation with friendly locals, and let the rhythm of Rome guide you.

  • Wear what makes you happy! Fashion is about expressing yourself. Whether you're rocking a bright pink tutu or a vintage shawl, wear what makes you feel confident and fabulous. Remember, the more you own your look, the more powerful you become!

  • The power of a good cup of coffee. Take the time to savor every cup of coffee – the aroma, the smooth texture, the warm embrace! A coffee break allows your mind to wander, to connect with the essence of your surroundings, and maybe even dream up a new fashion design or two.

  • Learn a few key phrases. Italian phrases like “buongiorno” (good morning) and “grazie” (thank you) go a long way in showing your appreciation and connecting with locals. Plus, learning a new language can be an empowering experience.

  • Take a break! Even amidst the chaos, embrace moments of stillness. Breathe deeply. Take in the vibrant scenery around you. Let yourself simply exist in the heart of this timeless city.

A Little Pink for You

My lovelies, until next Wednesday, continue to spread pink positivity, wear what makes your heart sing, and don't be afraid to dream big! And if you ever find yourself in Rome, don't forget to toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain. Maybe we'll see each other there one day!

Ciao for now!

Emma
