Pink Tutu Rome #44: A Day in the Eternal City!
Ciao bella!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! This week we’re in the glorious, ancient city of Rome! I know you love trains as much as I do, so I’m so excited to share my trip across Europe, starting with this iconic Italian city. You can see me dancing and enjoying the sights in the photos below (and maybe even a cheeky twirl in my pink tutu!), all before heading into the Italian night for a ballet show - what a treat!
As I write this, I’m sitting in a quaint little cafe just off the Piazza Navona, watching the world go by with a delicious espresso and a delicate slice of tiramisu. You wouldn’t believe the pastries in this city! The smell is divine, like a dream straight out of a Parisian bakery. My suitcase is bursting with treats for the trip home, just imagine the delight!
You may wonder how I fund my travel adventures. It's all down to my passion for ballet. My ballet performances have not only taken me across Derbyshire, but they now whisk me off to incredible cities all over the world, from Paris to Prague! My dance skills are paying for my travels! It’s a true ballet dancer’s dream!
Anyway, back to the wonders of Rome. Today we’ve explored so much. It all started with a dreamy journey from Derby on the Eurostar, whizzing through the beautiful French countryside, ending up at the magnificent Rome Termini. My pink tutu bag, with my precious pink tutus, nestled neatly between my other luggage, ready to make a glamorous appearance in the Eternal City.
The Colosseum! You can’t go to Rome without feeling the grandeur of this iconic monument. I had the best time learning about gladiators and chariots, and then the moment we walked in - what an atmosphere! All those years ago, it must have been an incredible sight to see gladiators fighting! The size of it! Just breathtaking. The energy was something special - truly historical!
After that, we meandered through the heart of Rome, where we stumbled upon the Pantheon! My jaw dropped! It was magnificent, bathed in warm golden sunshine streaming through the giant oculus. So serene and peaceful inside. I’ll admit, I was picturing myself in a swirling pink tutu amidst those magnificent pillars, doing a pirouette or two. Oh the things that we dream up!
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a taste of real Italian food. Lunch was pure Italian perfection - spaghetti carbonara and a crisp white wine. Every bite was heavenly, the pasta cooked al dente, the flavours bursting with cheesy goodness. And a lovely, refreshing lemon granita, so much better than an ice cream on this hot day.
Later on, we walked through the stunning Borghese Gardens. The sculptures! It was like stepping into a work of art, surrounded by beauty in every corner. I did manage to get a quick, cute, pink tutu pose at one of the beautiful fountains – I have a whole series of "pink tutu and landmarks" images now for Instagram – how’s that for wanderlust!
This evening we’re indulging in an authentic Roman Opera! A whole night of ballet and the greatest opera performances! Just divine! Oh, to feel the warmth and romance of Italy and then dance into the night - it really does feel magical! I have to make sure I film some footage for my social media so you can see it for yourselves. It will be perfect for my "Ballet Adventures" playlist!
Stay tuned for next week's blog as we journey to Pompeii. But for now, I'll leave you with a little fashion tip! If you’re thinking of embracing a pink tutu, it’s time to take that leap! A pink tutu will transform your wardrobe! You don’t need to be a ballerina, simply wear it with pride and remember, your style is a reflection of you. And be sure to check out my YouTube channel for a glimpse into my Pink Tutu journey!
Stay fabulous!
