Pink Tutu Rome: Week 82 - The Eternal City, My Dearest!

Buongiorno, darlings!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... another week, another fabulous Pink Tutu adventure! Today I'm spilling all the secrets of my week in the Eternal City, Rome! Let's go, shall we?

Travelling in Style

My journey from Derbyshire, my home county, to the capital of Italy was absolutely enchanting. The Eurostar whisked me away in a flurry of croissants and espresso, my trusty pink tutu twirling happily by my side. There's just something about a train journey, don't you think? It's so peaceful, time for daydreaming and catching up on my ballet magazine!

Arriving in Roma

As I stepped off the train in Rome Termini station, a wave of excitement swept over me. This beautiful city, steeped in history and art, felt magical! The bustling streets, the smells of delicious food (I had to have a panini!), and the vibrant atmosphere made my heart sing! Of course, I didn't forget to twirl.

Rome in a Pink Tutu: Turning Heads

This city loves a little bit of drama, and my pink tutu definitely fit the bill! I waltzed through the cobbled streets, turning heads and leaving trails of smiles. Seriously, every glance, every compliment, every “bella!” (beautiful) that floated my way, made the experience pure bliss. I'm on a mission to inspire the world, you know, one pink tutu at a time!

Exploring Ancient Wonders

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to the Colosseum, the iconic Roman amphitheatre. The sheer scale and majesty of this ancient monument left me speechless! Imagine the gladiators battling in this arena, the crowds cheering, the air filled with excitement. I stood there, my pink tutu shimmering in the sunlight, trying to imagine what it must have been like all those years ago.

And then came the Roman Forum. Stepping amongst these ancient ruins, you can feel the weight of history, the echoes of emperors and gladiators, of life and death. It was a powerful and moving experience, leaving me deeply humbled.

Shopping Spree!

No girl trip is complete without a good shopping spree, right? And Rome is a veritable paradise for fashion lovers like me. From the designer boutiques of Via Condotti to the hidden gems in the Trastevere neighbourhood, there was something for every taste and style.

You won't believe what I found! A beautiful, handcrafted Italian leather handbag, a chic black blazer for those cool Roman evenings, and, of course, a new pink tutu to complete the look! I just can't resist a new tutu, can I?

Opera Magic at the Teatro dell'Opera

On Tuesday night, I graced the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera for a magical performance of "La Traviata". The atmosphere was electric, and I felt utterly transported. The incredible music, the costumes, the story - it was pure perfection. My favourite part? The scene where Violetta sings "Sempre Libera" I cried!

Street Performances and Local Favourites

Rome is also a city alive with street performances, talented musicians and artists captivating the crowds in the piazzas. The beauty of street art was all around me - on walls, on buildings, everywhere! I took plenty of inspiration for my next dance routine - a real mix of classical ballet, contemporary flair, and a dash of Italian passion!

Pink Tutu Dinner with a View

What could be more magical than enjoying a delicious dinner with a stunning view? We dined al fresco on a rooftop restaurant, my tutu swirling under the warm Italian sky, twinkling lights reflecting in my pink-tinted world.

Sweet Treats and the Beauty of Everyday

I am a firm believer that even the smallest of experiences can be special, and my week in Rome has been no different! A warm, flaky cornetto in the morning, a friendly chat with a local in broken Italian, a perfect gelato cone at sunset. These everyday moments add to the tapestry of travel, don't you think?

Pink Tutu Dreams

My week in Rome has been nothing short of spectacular. This beautiful, vibrant city, brimming with history, art, fashion, and culture has truly enchanted me.

If you are dreaming of a trip, a new adventure, let your dreams guide you, even if you’re not planning on wearing a pink tutu. And while I'm at it, I'll say it again - embrace the world with open arms and a generous sprinkle of pink!

Keep on dreaming, keep on twirling, and see you next Wednesday for another Pink Tutu adventure!

Love, Emma

P.S. I've been so inspired by Rome's incredible history that I'm working on a new dance routine that celebrates all things Roman. Think sweeping movements, flowing skirts, and a touch of drama. You know I'll have to post the video on Pink-Tutu.com, so keep an eye out!
