Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - Post #104

Wednesday 1997-06-04 - Exploring Eternal Beauty

Buongiorno from the Eternal City! It's your favourite ballerina blogger, Emma, back again from the land of ancient ruins, creamy gelato, and stunning sunsets – yes, it's Rome! This week's adventures are brought to you courtesy of my latest ballet gig – a fundraising gala in Florence, and you know how much I love train travel!

The train journey itself was an adventure, with the rolling Tuscan hills painted with sunshine and the sweet scent of hay in the air. I indulged in a bit of window shopping for fabrics in Florence, you see, one cannot travel without adding some lovely pieces to one's wardrobe. Just imagine a luxurious satin, draped like a whisper over a vibrant fuchsia bodice... divine! But more on that later.

This week, we're talking Rome, the city where the Colosseum stands as a silent sentinel to history, and where the aroma of freshly baked bread drifts on the wind, beckoning you into charming cafes. Rome, with its intricate cobblestone streets and vibrant squares overflowing with life, is simply breathtaking!

A Ballerina's Paradise: Dancing in Rome

One of the things I've loved most about exploring Rome is experiencing its dance scene. From the opulent Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, to the more intimate Teatro Argentina, Rome breathes life into the magic of ballet. Seeing a performance here felt like being swept into a story, every step a captivating brushstroke on a living canvas. I've also discovered some wonderful ballet schools in Rome, places brimming with energy, grace, and passion. The atmosphere is intoxicating - and just wait till you see the dancers! Such dedication to the art form! It reminds me why I love dancing so much.

Pink Tutu Style in the Eternal City

Of course, no journey would be complete without a sprinkle of my signature pink tutu magic! The cobblestone streets are practically begging to be danced upon. The colour of Rome - with its terracotta rooftops, warm stone facades, and the glorious sunsets – perfectly complements my pink hues. You might catch me swirling and twirling around the Trevi Fountain, making wishes upon its shimmering waters, all in a glorious symphony of pink and rose gold!

Shopping Spree:

Shopping for me is like a ballet routine - a perfect blend of planning, grace, and a little bit of improvisation! My trip to Rome hasn't disappointed, and I have found a few truly dazzling pieces for my ever-growing wardrobe. There's a charming little shop I found, tucked away near the Pantheon, where I fell in love with the most exquisite silk scarves. Think vibrant hues of ruby red and turquoise, patterns echoing Renaissance paintings and stories of ancient emperors. Imagine them draping like elegant trails behind me as I twirl across a cobblestone plaza. A vision!

Rome Through Rose-Tinted Lenses

My favourite time of day in Rome? When the city is bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun. The golden light transforms the ancient monuments, painting them in a new light, a delicate blush that blends with the colour of my pink tutu.

Let's Talk about Fashion:

Did you know that Italian fashion is known for its timeless elegance? You can spot the inspiration of Rome’s classical architecture and artistry everywhere, from the dramatic flounces of skirts to the soft flowing lines of luxurious gowns. It's not just about designer names here - it's about embracing the art of looking fabulous!

Pink Tutu and the Colosseum:

Today, we’re heading to the Colosseum. I can hardly wait! This architectural marvel, a silent echo of the gladiatorial fights of the past, is an essential stop on any Roman adventure. I'll be channeling my inner Roman empress with a flowing white gown, a splash of pink on my lips, and, of course, my pink tutu cascading gracefully behind me. Imagine it - me waltzing around the Colosseum! It will be like something out of a film, a ballet in the heart of ancient Rome.

Stay tuned, dear readers, for next week’s adventures, where we’ll be delving into the Vatican City and exploring the breathtaking beauty of the Sistine Chapel! Remember, the world is your stage, so twirl on, embrace the magic of life, and let your pink tutu guide you on your own extraordinary adventures!

Ciao for now!

Emma, From Derbyshire, with love.
