Pink Tutu Rome: #126
Ciao Bella!
It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! This week, I'm absolutely bursting with excitement because, after months of planning, my Roman adventure is finally here!
Let me tell you, hopping aboard the Eurostar, my tutu safely tucked away in my trusty suitcase, and leaving the rolling green hills of Derbyshire behind felt like the most magical thing. Train journeys always feel a bit like a little ballet in themselves, with their rhythmic clicking and chugging, and the view ever-changing outside the window. Plus, there's something so wonderfully nostalgic and romantic about travelling by train, don't you think?
And here I am, finally in the heart of Rome! It’s a truly glorious city, buzzing with life, beautiful architecture, and, most importantly, delicious gelato! Honestly, it’s like a real-life set for my favourite ballet, Romeo and Juliet, with cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, and vibrant, passionate locals.

So, what has my first day in Rome been like? Absolutely fab, darling! I've been following my little pink-tutu-shaped nose through the heart of this enchanting city. The first thing I did was check into the cutest little boutique hotel near Piazza Navona. The room is a little bit of pink paradise, complete with a balcony overlooking the bustling piazza. This is truly the perfect place to indulge my passion for pink.
This morning, after a delectable breakfast of cappuccino and cornetti (which were positively divine!), I ventured into the labyrinthine heart of the Trastevere district, its cobblestone alleys oozing with Italian charm. You know I couldn’t resist the urge to buy a fabulous new pair of shoes - think red patent leather with little black bows. My new ballet flats have already become the perfect accessory for my exploration of this magnificent city.
Fashion Forward
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without some serious fashion therapy. I'm just thrilled to report that my love of vintage tutus and retro pieces has found a real haven here. I wandered through a glorious market full of the most stunning silk scarves and floral fabrics - a real Aladdin's cave for a tutu-loving girl like me! And oh, the colours - vibrant crimson reds, emerald greens, and oh so much beautiful pink! My creative brain is already whirring with ideas for my new pink tutu creation.
The City's Rhythm
Later, I joined a free tour of the Colosseum, marvelling at its sheer scale and majesty. It's almost impossible to believe that this was once the scene of such fierce gladiatorial contests! The stories of gladiators, emperors, and legendary battles seem to linger in the air even today, adding to the city's mysterious magic.
The evening was just as captivating. After devouring a scrumptious pasta carbonara at a charming little trattoria near my hotel, I headed out to experience the city's vibrant night life. A local recommended a small theatre in Trastevere, promising a beautiful performance of contemporary dance.
Honestly, the show was simply divine! I was spellbound by the movements and expressions of the dancers, it was like watching a living masterpiece unfold before me. Their grace and skill brought the music and the story to life in a way I hadn't experienced before. It reminded me, again, why I love dance so much - it speaks a universal language that transcends borders and cultures.
Sharing The Love
My fellow dance lovers, if you ever find yourself in Rome, I urge you to explore its hidden gems - the tucked away trattorias, the street markets teeming with colourful fabric and lace, the tiny dance studios whispering with the rhythmic sway of ballerinas, and of course, the breathtaking history and culture that flows through every cobblestone and every alley. And, oh, the gelato, darling, the gelato!
Don't forget to grab your own pink tutu, it'll add the perfect touch of elegance and whimsy to any day out exploring this magnificent city!
Stay tuned next week, my lovely dancers! I'll be sharing more about my Roman adventures and some fashion tips for all my tutu lovers out there!
Ciao for now!
