Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 1999-07-14 - Ciao Bella, Rome! 🩰🇮🇹
Hello darlings! It's Emma from www.pink-tutu.com, and this is post number 214. Buckle up your tutus, because this week I'm whisking you away to the Eternal City, the magnificent, historical, utterly romantic Rome!
Rome. I mean, how do you even begin to describe a place that's both utterly timeless and perpetually buzzing? I arrived by train yesterday - my favourite mode of transport, always full of adventures and interesting people to spot. Plus, there's something so glamorous about arriving at a station like Roma Termini in a fabulous, twirling-worthy outfit.
Speaking of outfits, Rome is just the sort of city where a girl can really let her inner fashionista shine. The cobblestone streets, the ochre buildings, the sheer history in every corner - it's all practically begging for a touch of pink tutu magic!
So, what have I been up to since arriving? Well, I had to begin my Roman adventure in the most perfect way possible: by indulging in a glorious ballet show at Teatro dell'Opera. It was a whirlwind of passion and beauty, with graceful dancers, elegant costumes, and a story that just transported me straight into a world of romance and enchantment. And let me tell you, I even saw a couple of girls wearing tutus, not pink, but the spirit was there! And believe me, I smiled wider than the Colosseum itself.
Fashion & Foodie Delights
After the show, I took a little stroll around the vibrant Campo de' Fiori. The air was filled with the scent of fresh herbs and the chatter of locals, and the stalls were overflowing with the most beautiful flowers. There are so many colours in Rome. It's a riot! But as much as I love the vibrancy, there’s something about the timeless, neutral elegance of the Italian look. It really appeals to the ballet side of me!
Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without experiencing the incredible food scene. This morning, I woke up to the most delicious smell wafting in through my window. Turns out, it was from the café across the street, where I had the most amazing breakfast of espresso, ricotta pancakes, and the juiciest, freshest strawberries. Seriously, it was enough to make you want to twirl!
Chasing History & Roman Ruins
Today I'm exploring the Forum Romanum. Can you believe these amazing ruins are over 2000 years old?! The history here is so tangible. Imagine what it must have been like to walk through the forum in the heyday of the Roman Empire, surrounded by the energy of an ancient, bustling city! There are the remnants of magnificent buildings and bustling streets where emperors once strode and gladiators fought! You’d be forgiven for mistaking it for the set of a historical drama.
As a lover of all things dramatic, I am in my element! Every nook and cranny tells a story. The stories whispered in the shadows of ancient columns and statues, or carved into the stone. Even after thousands of years, they manage to hold you captive.
Tutus & Travel Tips
Remember darlings, when I travel, it’s important to look your best at all times. Pink is, of course, my signature, but don’t be afraid to inject a little colour and drama wherever you go! I always keep my pink tutu, a delicate cardigan, a pair of sparkly heels, and of course, a sparkling headpiece in my bag! (If you haven't seen my favourite shop called "Whimsical World" in Derbyshire then pop by - you won’t be disappointed. It’s a veritable treasure trove of sparkle).
Don’t be afraid to accessorise your outfit to match your surroundings, for example, you could match the hue of your scarf to the gorgeous stained glass windows in the Roman basilicas, or add some Italian charm with some vibrant statement jewellery! Rome has such rich culture and fashion, you'll feel a constant stream of inspiration.
And remember, a little confidence goes a long way. Don't be afraid to embrace the spotlight, whether it’s taking pictures at the Colosseum, striking a pose in a pretty piazza, or striking up a conversation with a charming local in a coffee shop! It’s this spirit that is making Rome even more magical than I thought.
As always, please tell me your favourite fashion tips and travel tips! And if you're ever in Derbyshire, look me up! I'll happily give you a grand tour of the Peak District, but if you’d like me to join you on a shopping trip around a town like Ashbourne (where I'm originally from), we can swap outfit tips. Or, we can head off to the Derby Playhouse, for a wonderful night of theatre. Maybe you'll even wear your favourite pink tutu.
Stay tuned next Wednesday for another fabulous blog post from Rome! In the meantime, stay glamorous, stay curious, and most importantly, never be afraid to twirl!
With love, Emma x www.pink-tutu.com
