Pink Tutu Rome: Week 217 - Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹💕

Hey there, my darling Tutu Twirlers! 👋 It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad adventurer, and guess what? I'm in Rome! Yes, the Eternal City itself. I arrived by train, of course - nothing quite beats the romantic clinkety-clonk of a journey through Europe's beautiful countryside, and let me tell you, the Italian countryside is positively stunning! It was like travelling through a Renaissance painting. Just add a few sheep and some sunflowers, and Bob's your uncle! 🌻🐑

Now, I have to tell you about the outfit. My pink tutu, naturally! (It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog post without it, now would it?) But I've given it a little Italian twist, adding a soft, rose-coloured silk scarf that billows gently in the Roman breeze and a pair of delicate gold sandals. A touch of Audrey Hepburn elegance, wouldn't you say?

Day 1: A Grand Roman Debut!

Arriving in the bustling heart of Rome was quite a sensory overload. The sheer number of beautiful, historical buildings, the smell of freshly baked pastries (my Italian diet is already in overdrive!), and the sound of laughter and chatter as everyone hurried about their day – it was magic!

We started our explorations with the Colosseum, of course. It was massive, even more imposing than I imagined! You could practically hear the roars of the gladiators and the excited chatter of the crowd in its dusty depths. The sheer scale of the place gave me goosebumps – what a fantastic feat of engineering! We spent a couple of hours wandering the Roman Forum after, marveling at the crumbling yet magnificent structures. I even tried a little impromptu pirouette in front of the Arch of Titus, which felt rather fitting!

And you know what? Even the most impressive ruins couldn’t overshadow my sheer excitement to try real Italian gelato! So, after our Colosseum adventure, we found the cutest little cafe just off the bustling Via Nazionale. Creamy vanilla, with swirls of strawberry and pistachio, all encased in a fluffy brioche – heaven! I think I’ll be needing an extra dose of that in my daily routine from now on!

Day 2: Artistic Inspiration!

We started our morning with a visit to the Borghese Gallery, which, according to our tour guide, was actually the favourite spot for ballerinas to practise! Isn’t that wonderful? Imagine – swanning around in your tulle, against the backdrop of Bernini’s exquisite sculptures! I’d be making a real fuss! Of course, we couldn't just admire the gallery without paying our respects to Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, now, could we? Such exquisite artistry, it almost took my breath away.

Later that afternoon, we made our way to the Vatican City, where the Vatican Museums awaited! This is where the iconic Michelangelo's Pieta was displayed, one of the most beautiful sculptures I've ever seen! Just standing in front of it, surrounded by its otherworldly aura, it was as though I was witnessing an actual performance. Michelangelo, you are truly a master! I spent hours lost in the stunning artwork of the museums – they’re an absolute must for anyone visiting Rome, and I must say, my muse is truly feeling inspired!

Day 3: Food, Fashion, and Fancy!

Rome, oh Rome, you have spoiled me rotten! Our final day was an absolute feast for the senses, starting with a tour of the stunning Campo de' Fiori, which was bursting with fresh flowers and local produce – so vibrant and lively! It was a whirlwind of colour and fragrance.

The highlight of our Roman adventure, however, was undoubtedly our visit to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Now, there is nothing quite like watching a ballet performance in the heart of the Italian capital, and let me tell you, this show was sensational! From the opulent costumes to the passionate choreography, it truly was a feast for the eyes. As the ballerina took to the stage, graceful and elegant, it ignited my passion and left me with such a rush of pure joy, I just knew I had to let loose! So, I joined in, performing a joyous little arabesque in the back row as the last note resonated through the hall. The Italian audience loved it – my pirouette was met with a smattering of enthusiastic applause and even some wolf whistles! You see, tutus are universally understood! 💖

Fashion Finds!

Okay, let’s talk about the most exciting thing for me about any new destination: the fashion! And Rome did not disappoint! It’s like a dream come true. We've spent a glorious afternoon indulging in a little boutique shopping along Via Condotti, the ultimate Italian luxury shopping experience! I have to admit, I did snag a few pieces myself – some gorgeous silk scarves that complement my collection perfectly, a luxurious pair of pink sunglasses for that chic Italian vibe, and even a brand new pink-tutu-inspired scarf! Yes, a tutu-shaped scarf. It was too cute to pass up! I just had to share my love for the tutu with the Romans!

And my journey through the Eternal City wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the shoes! Of course, I had to get my hands on some delicious Italian footwear, and found the most delightful little shop full of quirky shoes in the most fabulous colours! I mean, I’ve been wanting a pair of turquoise platforms with bows since my last trip to Florence, and they've finally found their way into my closet! They just screamed Italian glamour.

Rome, my heart is yours!

The sheer magic of this place, from the awe-inspiring ruins to the mouthwatering food and captivating fashion, it's stolen a piece of my heart. This truly is a city that will stay with you forever. I've made so many new memories, taken inspiration from the creative atmosphere, and made a few fabulous fashion finds – what more could a pink tutu-wearing ballerina ask for?

Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a special tribute to Rome:

The Rome Tutu!

Just imagine: a tutu made of the most vibrant rose-pink silk, swirling and flowing in the Italian sunshine, catching the reflections of the Trevi Fountain and the Roman Forum in its billows. The kind of tutu that would turn heads wherever you go and whisper stories of Roman romance. This, my Tutu Twirlers, is what dreams are made of!

Now, until next Wednesday, don't forget to spread the Pink Tutu love! Wear a tutu, be yourself, and don’t be afraid to twirl with confidence. After all, life’s too short for anything but a touch of pink tulle magic!

See you next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma xoxo
