Pink Tutu Rome: Week 356 – A Ballet-Lover's Paradise! 🩰🇮🇹
Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another dazzling instalment of Pink Tutu Rome, straight from the heart of the Eternal City! This week, I'm absolutely brimming with excitement, having just returned from a whirlwind trip to Rome - it was truly a dream! From the cobbled streets to the ancient ruins, Rome simply buzzes with history and energy. And trust me, it's a city that embraces fabulous fashion. 👠
Of course, my trusty pink tutu came along for the adventure! I'm always on a mission to spread the joy of pink tulle, and what better place to do so than the iconic city of Rome? From the Trevi Fountain to the Spanish Steps, the tutus became a fun little touch of whimsy in a city bursting with elegance and charm.
The Joy of Trains!
Before I tell you all about the magic of Rome, let me just say a quick hello to my fellow train-lovers! There’s truly nothing more satisfying than gliding across the continent in a comfortable, vintage train carriage. My trip to Rome involved a lovely journey from the UK via the Eurostar - and believe me, it's the most civilised way to travel. There's just something about being whisked through the countryside, catching glimpses of villages and rolling fields, that truly sets the tone for a glamorous adventure.
Ballet Performances Galore
Once I reached the stunning capital of Italy, my main mission was to discover the local ballet scene! As you all know, I’m a total ballet buff and I adore experiencing the nuances of dance across the globe. Rome didn't disappoint! I spent an afternoon captivated by the exquisite Giselle at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It was utterly breathtaking! The dancing was pure magic, the costumes were incredible, and the passion pouring from the stage was utterly infectious. My tutu spun in delighted excitement!
The Charm of Shopping in Rome
And then there's the shopping, my loves! The fashion in Rome is seriously inspiring. From the independent boutiques to the grand department stores, I found myself wandering from one charming shop to the next. A real highlight was discovering a vintage clothing shop tucked away in a little cobbled lane. I managed to snag a fabulous pair of emerald green, 70s-inspired boots that had my name written all over them. They’re just perfect for adding a touch of Roman flair to my ballerina style!
Eating my Way through the City
Rome is a feast for the senses - both visually and gastronomically! No trip to this magical city would be complete without indulging in some of the local culinary delights. My week in Rome included an absolute splurge of delicious Italian fare. I sampled divine fresh pasta dishes in tiny, family-run restaurants tucked away down side streets. I tasted the freshest gelato in a tiny gelato shop tucked away behind the Trevi Fountain - just incredible! And who could resist a slice of Tiramisu, a treat I simply have to have every time I’m in Italy!
The Best Place to Find the Perfect Pink Tutu
But of course, every trip needs a little souvenir for my lovely readers! Rome was no exception! While I've been browsing some gorgeous tutus during my travels, I have my eye on a new pink one to add to my collection.
There are endless shops where you can get tutus, and there’s nothing quite like wearing your pink tulle in Rome’s warm, sun-kissed streets. If you find a gorgeous one that I just have to have, do send me a photo. After all, the perfect pink tutu doesn't just happen! It has to be carefully curated.
Wednesday Inspiration
Let's dive back into my favourite Wednesday inspiration! Today, it’s all about spreading a little sparkle with the art of dance! Let's embrace our inner grace, celebrate the power of ballet, and most importantly, find the joy in each step we take. It’s about taking inspiration from the dance world, and sharing a touch of that elegance with the world!
Remember, darlings, you're all unique and wonderful. Don’t ever forget to twirl to the beat of your own drum!
Love always, Emma

Emma’s Diary – Wednesday, April 3, 2002Here’s what my Roman day looked like:
* 9:00 AM: Woke up to the sunshine beaming through my hotel window, grabbed my coffee and watched a little Roman morning television. The sound of a nearby café and bustling people always makes for an exciting start to a new day in this charming city!
* 10:00 AM: Head to the café to grab a coffee (a true Italian Caffe this time! Stronger than the cafe Americano but a welcome perk up in the morning) and watch the people go by. There are so many fascinating people here - some elegantly dressed, some looking effortlessly cool, but everyone exudes a touch of that wonderful Italian panache.
* 11:00 AM: A stroll through the streets. There are so many iconic landmarks to discover, but it’s really the little details of the architecture that I find utterly fascinating: the wrought iron balconies, the brightly coloured buildings, and the ancient ruins that peek through the cobblestones. Every corner in Rome is a piece of art, which makes strolling around so much fun!
* 12:00 PM: It’s lunch time, and time for the delicious Italian fare! The aromas of the restaurants draw me in like a moth to a flame. It's impossible to resist! I ordered a pasta dish - Spaghetti alla Carbonara, which is such a Roman classic and absolutely delicious.
* 2:00 PM: I spent a magical hour exploring the Roman Forum! The history and power of this place is breathtaking. It’s a little like stepping into the pages of a history book!
* 3:00 PM: I popped into a bookshop - always a good idea when exploring a new city. It’s the best way to immerse yourself in the local culture, discover the best cafes and soak up some local literature.
* 4:00 PM: After a fab cup of coffee, I decided to seek out a ballet performance, which I had managed to squeeze into my trip! There is nothing like live ballet - the energy, the precision, the artistry! It always lifts me into a completely different world. The Roman ballet dancers certainly impressed. They seemed to glide across the stage like swans!
* 7:00 PM: It was the perfect evening for indulging in a luxurious Roman meal. I dined at a fantastic Italian restaurant near the Trevi Fountain - the setting was romantic and the atmosphere absolutely delightful. I devoured a delicious plate of Spaghetti Vongole and the perfect tiramisu to round off my delicious evening!
* 8:00 PM: Time for a stroll and a few photos to remember my lovely evening in Rome.
* 9:00 PM: A wonderful dolci treat of gelato in a little hidden street-side gelateria. And of course, a scoop of pistachio, it's the very best flavour - you’ll have to trust me on this!
* 10:00 PM: I’m back in my room, enjoying the peace and quiet of a balmy Italian evening - listening to a selection of Mozart to drift off to sleep, after a whirlwind Roman day.
