Well, darling readers, here I am in Rome, the eternal city! The moment I stepped off the train (after a very civilised, if rather long, journey across Europe, I must say!), I felt the magic of this place swirling around me like the most graceful pirouette. Can you believe I’m actually here? Pinch me, someone!
It’s Wednesday, November 27th, and that means it’s time for another post on www.pink-tutu.com! As you know, dear ones, I’m all about sharing my adventures in the most fabulous way possible - a twirl-tastic mix of pink, tutus, and of course, my ever-so-slightly obsessed fascination with all things ballet.
So, today’s topic is Roma! It’s a dream come true, truly! My mission this time is simple, yet monumental: to fall utterly head over heels in love with the Eternal City, discover some amazing vintage stores (for the perfect tutu finds!), and, of course, embrace the Roman life. And by "Roman life," I mean strolling along the cobbled streets in my favourite pink tutu, admiring the breathtaking architecture (it's like stepping onto a film set, darlings!), and simply breathing in the incredible atmosphere. It's intoxicating, like a sip of the finest Italian coffee!

This morning I've already hit a few vintage stores near the Spanish Steps, and oh my, what treasures I've discovered! Think lace, satin, silk… my dearest readers, the possibilities for a truly unique, Rome-inspired tutu are practically endless! I can just see it now: A classic white tutu, maybe with some delicate pink rose accents, maybe a bit of gold brocade to add a touch of regal elegance? Oh, I can already imagine myself waltzing down the Trevi Fountain with this masterpiece.
Later, I'm heading to a place called "La Bottega del Sastre" – rumour has it they have the most divine selection of fabrics and laces! My fellow ballet lovers, this is going to be an amazing shopping spree for tutu inspiration!
Rome’s Artistic Spirit
But shopping isn't all I'm doing. Oh no! Rome is all about soaking in the beauty and culture! My to-do list is brimming with enchanting experiences:
Colosseum: I’ve already caught a glimpse of this legendary landmark. Just seeing it filled me with a mixture of awe and a longing to feel the energy of history pulsing through those ancient stones.
Borghese Gallery: Today I’m exploring the art within. It's renowned for its beautiful sculptures, so I expect a very graceful ballet-like journey through the ages.
A Day of Roman Charm: A beautiful park, delicious gelato (I had strawberry and hazelnut – simply divine!), and some charming, colourful street performances - the true spirit of Roman culture!
And don't even get me started on the food! Imagine the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning, pasta dishes that are like a symphony of flavors, and a glass of crisp Italian wine as the sun sets over the city. My senses are in overload! It's no wonder people say Rome steals your heart.
Pink Tutu on the Go!
As for transportation, I'm doing it the Italian way! It's impossible to not take in the amazing atmosphere from the window of a Rome tram! And speaking of amazing, I'm lucky enough to be staying in a delightful little guesthouse called “Il Piccolo Sogno" - it has the most charming courtyard adorned with flowers and a small fountain – just perfect for a leisurely twirl before starting my day.
But here's the thing: there's one more incredible thing happening tonight. Brace yourselves, dear readers. Tonight is the ballet! The opera house here has a special production of La Traviata, a stunning ballet classic that's been on my "must-see" list for ages. Can you imagine, watching ballet in the birthplace of the greatest operas?! Pure magic.
I can already hear the beautiful music, the graceful movements, and the roar of the audience! It’s going to be an experience that stays with me long after the final curtain drops.
Pink Tutu Inspirations for the Week Ahead
I've picked out a fabulous pink tulle skirt to go with my ballerina top (in, of course, the same divine shade of pink, with delicate pearl buttons). This combination is both comfy and stylish – perfect for twirling through the cobblestone streets. And of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome experience without a touch of glitz. I've decided on a pair of gorgeous silver ballet shoes – with tiny pink bows on top – to add some sparkling sophistication!
