Pink Tutu Rome: Post 395 - La Dolce Vita (in Pink, Obviously!)
Ciao bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! This week, I'm taking you on a whirlwind tour of the Eternal City - but with a distinct Pink Tutu Twist of course! I landed in Rome on the first of January - New Year's Day! Talk about a fabulous way to kickstart the year, eh? It was a long journey from Derbyshire by train, but oh my, the journey is always part of the adventure. Watching the landscape shift, from rolling countryside to bustling cities, never fails to ignite my creative spirit.
The energy here is just incredible! You can really feel the history in every cobblestone street and ancient ruin. But alongside that, there’s this wonderful buzz of life – cafes buzzing with chatter, music pouring out of open doors, and everyone embracing the la dolce vita, which I'm certainly going to do in style, naturally!
Pink Perfection in Rome
Let’s start with my first Roman ensemble: a shocking pink tutu layered over a shimmering white blouse and a pair of silver strappy heels, because when in Rome, wear pink, right? (and I'm all about taking my tutus wherever I go!). To make it a little more "La Dolce Vita", I paired the outfit with a delicate silver necklace with a little star charm and a vintage, Italian fascinator covered in pink satin flowers - what a fab combo!
This city is such an inspiration for a fashionista. The colors, the textures, the architecture…everything whispers to the designer in me! The first thing I had to do was hit the shops – I couldn't resist, it’s simply how I roll. I scored a beautiful, pink scarf – with intricate lacework and tassels – perfect for adding a splash of colour to my outfits.
Ballet on the Tiber
I'm starting my Rome adventures with a bang. There’s a beautiful ballet show this evening at the Teatro Argentina. This gorgeous old theater was built in the 18th Century. Can you imagine the ballets they've seen on this stage? They say there’s a palpable presence of the great dancers of the past and the audience sits in the shadow of their legends. Just the thought of performing there sets my pulse racing!
I found the perfect pink and white silk gloves to go with my ballet-themed outfit. This is what I love about this whole pink tutu adventure - it makes every part of my life so exciting and interesting, including finding the perfect gloves for a ballet performance!
New Year’s Day Delight
Before we go further, let me share some New Year's Day tips with you! I woke up early and went out to explore the neighbourhood - there's a lovely little market near my Airbnb, which had stalls selling everything from beautiful handmade jewelry and ceramics, to vintage fabrics and vintage shoes. It's perfect for adding a little touch of local charm to your wardrobe.
I couldn't resist snapping a few photos – you'll see them on my Instagram and in this blog post, so keep an eye out. Later, we went for a long walk to the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain - just to soak it all in. Rome is breathtaking!
For lunch, I enjoyed a delicious bowl of pasta in a little trattoria down a side street. It was the perfect New Year’s treat. It had to be accompanied by a glass of wine – cheers!
Finding Beauty in the Unexpected
Another exciting thing that I stumbled upon - while strolling through the cobbled streets on the first of January was a lovely little Ballet Shop. I literally gasped. It was everything my ballerina dreams were made of! From silk tutus to classic dance shoes, pointe shoes, to the most gorgeous ballet leotards – I felt like a kid in a candy store! I found myself grabbing everything! (Maybe not everything, just almost everything!). I managed to resist the tempting tutu's though – for the time being! But let's be real, this might just be a chance to get some 'Pink Tutu Rome' limited-edition, handmade designs for my online store, which I’ll share soon, promise!
Stay Tuned for More Pink Tutu Adventures in Rome
Rome has already stolen a little piece of my heart – and I'm barely a day in! There’s so much more to explore – the Colosseum, the Vatican City, and countless art galleries, just waiting to be discovered! I can’t wait to tell you all about my next week's adventures. I'll be exploring Rome’s art scene, and of course, my favourite pastime: a little shopping therapy at one of the city’s famed designer boutiques, so don't miss next week’s blog post.
Remember, it's all about finding the beauty and magic in everyday life and sharing it with the world, one pink tutu at a time!
Ciao for now!
Love, Emma The Pink Tutu Ballerina
