Pink Tutu Rome #427: Ciao Bella! Exploring the Eternal City in Pink!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Rome! Squeals with delight!

This week's blog is a bit special, because, well, it's from the magical, enchanting, romantic city of Rome! Yes, my loves, this pink-tutu-wearing ballerina has landed in the Eternal City, and I'm feeling truly like a princess. Just picture it: cobblestone streets, historic buildings that whisper stories of centuries past, gelato melting on my tongue, and me, in my favourite pink tutu, ready to twirl!

A Train Ride Through Time

You might be wondering how I ended up here, well, my journey began, as always, on a train. You know how much I love train travel, it's a whole adventure in itself! From the moment I boarded the Eurostar in London, I felt like I was stepping back in time. And then, that delicious feeling of anticipation… just waiting for Italy to unfold like a storybook! The train chugged through the rolling countryside, sun-dappled fields, and charming little villages – a real feast for the eyes!

Fashionista in the City

When I arrived at Roma Termini, the city's central station, I just knew this would be a trip to remember. My first stop? Obviously, a little retail therapy! I mean, Rome is a fashionista's paradise, with the most amazing boutiques and markets. I managed to score a pair of gorgeous gladiator sandals that would make any ballerina's heart skip a beat! Snaps fingers and does a tiny twirl Oh, and I found the most beautiful, handmade silk scarf, the colour of a summer sunset. It will go perfectly with my blush pink tutu!

My First Roman Sunset

Speaking of sunset, that's the perfect segue to the best part of my first day – my very first Roman sunset! I found a quaint little café, with tiny wrought iron tables and brightly coloured awnings, all bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun. I enjoyed a delectable plate of pasta and a glass of chilled Prosecco, watching the light fade and the city come alive with the twinkling of its streetlights. The perfect ending to a magical day!

Discovering Ancient Wonders

Today, I woke up early (well, early for a ballerina) to see what wonders awaited. First, I was awed by the Colosseum. It's truly enormous, so full of history, a place where gladiators battled and emperors ruled. I can almost imagine the roars of the crowd, the clang of swords, and the thrill of the fight! It’s incredible how history still whispers in these grand ancient places.

The Pantheon, A Temple to All Gods

After that, I wandered through the ancient Pantheon, its towering dome, that beautiful circle of light in the center of the dome, still intact after centuries. I'm fascinated by Roman history, by the powerful gods and goddesses, the grandeur of their buildings. It's incredible to imagine the rituals, the prayers, the stories whispered under its vaulted ceilings.

The Charm of a Tiny Backstreet Gelateria

Then came a moment of pure indulgence! A little backstreet gelato shop, hidden away from the crowds, with flavours I've never even dreamed of! Strawberry and white chocolate, lemon and elderflower, pistachio… oh, the sheer delight of discovering new tastes! You can't be in Rome and not try the gelato! It's like a little taste of heaven in every spoonful!

On a Mission: Spreading the Pink Tutu Love

Of course, you can't visit a city as magical as Rome without a bit of ballerina magic! I can't resist, you know, my mission to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! Winces slightly, knows it’s a bold one, but it's all in good fun!

I've been practicing some tiny, delicate twirls and graceful stretches at the local park, just near the Trevi Fountain! And guess what? People are noticing! There's been a little group of tourists that join me each day, giggling as they learn some ballet steps! One young girl, maybe five years old, with bright blue eyes and blonde braids, gave me the most gorgeous smile, all while wearing a pink dress that practically cried out for a tutu.

Roman Dreams and Dance Dreams

Today, I'm planning on seeing a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The beautiful Roman Opera House, oh darling, I’m so excited! To see the ballets, hear the operas, it will be incredible. I’ve bought a pair of delicate, high-heeled satin shoes for the occasion, and my blush-coloured tulle tutu, a perfect harmony with the delicate and powerful art that Rome inspires!

Rome – More than Just a City

But you know, more than the history, the sights, the food, Rome feels like a feeling, an energy, a melody in the air! It's full of passion, creativity, and laughter – all things that speak to my heart as a ballerina. I'm already making memories I know I'll treasure forever, and the best part is, the week is only half over!

The Ballet Within My Heart

The week is getting a little busier, but I have a few ballet performances scheduled, funding these glorious trips. I just love performing. Nothing feels more beautiful, than a single perfect movement on the stage, or sharing that sense of joy with an audience. My next ballet performance will be at the National Gallery, such an elegant venue.

My Pink Tutu, A Reminder of Magic

Right now, as I finish writing this post, I'm perched at a charming little café, near the Piazza Navona, sipping cappuccino and looking out onto the world, my pink tutu feeling the evening breeze.

Rome, my loves, you are magic. I will continue exploring this captivating city. More adventures, more discoveries, more fashion moments, more ballet inspiration, coming your way on the blog next Wednesday.

Ciao for now, darlings!

Love always,

Emma
