Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2004-02-25 ā A Whirlwind of Pink in the Eternal City!
#PinkTutuRome #455
Buongiorno from the most beautiful city in the world! Rome, oh Rome, how I adore thee! From the cobbled streets and ancient ruins to the fabulous fashion boutiques and vibrant street performances, this city truly has it all. I can't believe it's been a whole week since I arrived - time is truly flying by in this captivating city. And what a whirlwind of excitement it's been!
This week I took the train down from Derbyshire, the air abuzz with excitement about this long awaited trip. Itās incredible how I can fund these incredible journeys by doing what I love - performing ballet. Each performance brings me one step closer to that dream of pink tutus swirling all over the globe, and let me tell you, the crowds here in Rome just love seeing my pink tutu as I waltz across the stage!
The other day I caught a fantastic ballet performance in a gorgeous theatre with elaborate dĆ©cor. They even had the most dazzling chandeliers ā a sight that would make any ballerinaās heart skip a beat. But the real magic was in the performance ā such elegance and grace, it left me speechless!
Naturally, after a stunning show, itās always time for a little indulgence. This time, I couldnāt resist treating myself to some gorgeous, girly dresses from a beautiful boutique hidden down a narrow alleyway. Itās like stepping back in time in this shop, but in the best way! There were frocks to suit every ballerina - swirling chiffon, luxurious velvet, and even some exquisite pink lace creations - perfect for my pink tutu collection! But the most spectacular purchase of the week was a pair of ruby red stiletto shoes ā yes, my friends, even the occasional foray into non-pointe footwear can be a fashion extravaganza!
Of course, I have also been taking advantage of this trip to capture the incredible beauty of Rome in all its glory. I spent the afternoon strolling along the River Tiber, the warmth of the Roman sunshine and the sound of birdsong serenading me as I wandered past the historic buildings. Let me tell you, thereās something truly special about witnessing centuries of history right in front of your eyes.
Speaking of beauty, letās talk about food. Italian cuisine is nothing short of sensational! From steaming plates of pasta bursting with flavours to pizzas that melt in your mouth, the delicious aromas permeate the air making it impossible to resist. The Italians truly know how to cook, and their passion for food is infectious. Iāve even sampled some scrumptious gelato, creamy and cool with the most exquisite flavours you could imagine! What a treat for a ballerina in need of a post-rehearsal sweet indulgence!
Later this week Iāll be exploring some of Rome's ancient treasures. I'm heading to the Colosseum - just imagine all the theatrical stories that took place within those majestic walls! And I simply canāt wait to visit the Forum - the birthplace of this magnificent city! Perhaps, when the tourists have all left, Iāll sneak a tutu-clad pirouette amidst the ruins for a perfect Pink Tutu Rome photo op. Now, wouldnāt that be something?!
I love how much I am learning about Italian history and culture - even if it is through the language of ballet. Did you know that even the traditional Italian dance āTarantellaā incorporates fast, rhythmic movements reminiscent of ballet steps? Thereās so much to discover and explore, I could easily spend weeks here, just soaking it all up!
To the readers back in Derbyshire and everywhere in between, this is a message from sunny Italy - embrace your own unique style, just like the Romans do! Wear those pink tutus with pride and embrace your inner ballerina, whether youāre performing on stage, twirling down a Parisian cobbled street, or just twirling around your kitchen!
Now, I must dash, a gelato craving has just hit, and it wouldnāt be a proper Pink Tutu Rome post without a little dessert!
Until next Wednesday, when I'll be sharing more pink tutu adventures from the Eternal City, keep twirling, darling!
