Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #473

Wednesday, 30th June, 2004

Oh, darlings! It's me, Emma, and I'm finally in Rome! 🇮🇹 It's everything I dreamed it would be, with its beautiful architecture, cobbled streets, and charming little shops. I swear, just looking at the city is like a trip to the ballet – elegant, grand, and absolutely stunning! 🩰

I've been saving up for this trip all year, and you know what I do, my loves? I've been giving performances, obviously. That's my way of travelling the world, you know. Ballet and travel, it’s the perfect combination!

You see, the thing about being a ballet dancer, is you get to see so much of the world! You perform in amazing venues and then, sometimes you have the chance to explore and see the sights. It's truly wonderful. That's why I do this blog. Because you know what? If I can do this, if I can follow my dream and live this fabulous life, so can you. So you can see it all, if you dare! 🌎 Dare to dream, love!

Now, let’s get back to Rome, my dears! I’m living it up, doing all the things I love. And as you know, when I say “doing all the things I love”, I mean:

  1. Ballet, ballet, and more ballet: I couldn't come to Rome without seeing some ballet, right? I'm seeing a performance of “Swan Lake” tonight! Imagine, me in my pink tutu and the beautiful swans on stage. Pure magic! 💖

  2. Clothes, glorious clothes: My new favourite pastime has been perusing the Via Condotti - an absolute treasure trove for those who love to wear pink (especially in tutus!). It’s simply divine, with shops for every budget, but of course, you know me, I go for the high-end tutus and ballerina-inspired dresses. I swear I’ve fallen in love with all the gorgeous lace, ruffles, and sparkly embellishments - my favourite colours are blush, dusty rose and cherry blossom, so it's hard to resist!

  3. Fabulous food and even more fabulous shopping! A delightful breakfast of croissants and cappuccinos is a must every day. Honestly, my darling friends, I've tried every Italian dessert and ice cream – panna cotta, tiramisu, gelato. My tastebuds are in heaven. Who can resist a creamy concoction like that in Rome? And speaking of my tastebuds, you know how much I adore beautiful flowers! This trip was no exception, so much pink, white, and orange blossoms! I couldn't resist buying some pink peonies for my little hotel room, just because. I’m like a girl with a passion for life! 🥰

But Rome isn't just about the tourist traps, even though, as I've mentioned, I love them! This city is full of surprises. There's a beautiful hidden garden tucked away on Via della Lungara near the Vatican. A secret spot perfect for reading a book and enjoying a picnic! I spent the entire day lost in this haven of greenery. You can truly relax and breathe. And what do I wear when I need to relax? Well, a tutu of course, only this time a little lighter in colour, like the sweetest shade of dusty rose. It just feels right, you know.

Oh, and of course, there are the Roman Ruins and the Colosseum - how absolutely impressive! You feel the history seeping into your very bones as you stand there. And you know what I do when I'm exploring a site of such historical grandeur? A little twirl and pose of course! Because, why not? My pink tutu doesn’t know any boundaries!

And the locals, the Romans? Oh my goodness, they are so lovely! So warm, friendly and happy. They greet me with smiles and friendly “buon giornos”, and of course, the quintessential “ciao bellas”. Even when I’m showing off a little bit in my tutus, the locals think it’s fabulous! I find that Italians love a good performance.

This city truly makes you feel like you're in a fairytale, you know. And, like the dancers in the famous ballets of yesteryear, I feel a little bit magical just being here!

Of course, I wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blogger if I wasn’t reminding you, lovelies, that pink is always the way to go! And Rome was truly born to wear a pink tutu. From the gorgeous pink-hued sunset over the ancient ruins, to the beautiful pink flowers blooming in gardens and hidden nooks, this city embodies the essence of femininity and joy!

So, darlings, I must admit I feel utterly inspired! It’s like Rome has taken the Pink Tutu movement to a whole new level. It's like an explosion of color, passion, and a desire to twirl through life! My pink tutu has travelled across the globe from England, from my humble home in Derbyshire, and it's been embraced with open arms and cheering applause. What a joyous journey this is. I am beyond thrilled!

If you're ever looking for inspiration for your next adventure, don't just travel to Rome; become the Roman Empress of pink. Find the beauty in the everyday. It’s right there, all around you.

I’ve also picked up some delicious food, souvenirs, and of course, a few fabulous tutus! I will be sharing the photos and details in my next blog! Be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com and join me on this journey of pink. See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Emma xx

P.S. And for all you curious little dancers who want to know where I’ve been, keep checking in to my blog. I’m going to Florence next, to experience more beautiful Italy! See you there, dearies. 🇮🇹
