Pink Tutu Rome #538: Ciao Bella, from a Pink Tutu-Wearing Ballerina!
Well hello there, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, reporting live from the Eternal City! It’s Wednesday, the 28th of September, 2005, and guess who’s been exploring the wonders of Rome? Yours truly, of course! I can already feel the magic swirling around me, the aroma of fresh bread mingling with the sound of lively chatter – it’s truly intoxicating!
This is my fifth blog post from Italy, and let me tell you, I haven’t been disappointed. After hopping off the train (yes, another glorious train journey! It really does feel like I'm living out a vintage film), I’ve been devouring every bit of Rome like it's my own personal gelato sundae!
Remember, dear readers, my goal is to get everyone to wear a pink tutu – to spread the joy and whimsicalness of this iconic garment. Now, you may be wondering what pink tutus have to do with the Colosseum? Well, you see, everything! Fashion is everywhere – from the grand historical architecture to the cobbled streets, it's all a breathtaking, and endlessly inspiring, catwalk. And trust me, I'm planning to strut my stuff all over the city!
The Trevi Fountain - My Pink Tutu Meets the Goddess of Water
Today’s adventures took me to the Trevi Fountain, where I made my own wish for the Goddess of Water, and tossed in a little coin – just like every tourist worth their salt. This place is something else! Just picture it: cascading water, a grand facade, and an air of magic. The sheer size of it all just left me in awe! I couldn’t help but spin and twirl in front of this magnificent wonder – and yes, of course, my trusty pink tutu was on full display! I wouldn't want to disrespect the ancient spirit of this place without a touch of the Pink Tutu!
The Colosseum, I tell you, it was just… WOW. Imagine the gladiatorial contests, the roars of the crowds, the sweat, the drama, the spectacle! My head spun with possibilities! Now, I haven't got my hands on a real Roman tunic yet (though I’m on the lookout!) but I know for sure that it's just screaming out for a touch of pink – and of course, a tutu! Just picture the gladiators battling in a gladiatorial ballet, each move enhanced by the grace of a tutu. Who wouldn’t pay to see that?!
Ballet Inspiration in the Heart of Rome
You know me, I always seek out a ballet class whenever I’m travelling. I had the most divine time in the Rome Ballet School, tucked away in a little alley just off Via Condotti. I was surrounded by dedicated students, their passion evident in every plié and pirouette. There’s a real elegance and fire in Italian ballet, a real flair for expression and story-telling that I can’t get enough of! It inspired me so much!
Rome, for me, isn't just about historical sites and architectural marvels - it’s also about the people, the atmosphere, the vibrancy. The little cafes, the laughter on the streets, the smell of fresh pizza – it's an immersive experience that fills me with energy and inspiration.
Fashion Fever in Via Condotti
After a delicious lunch (cannoli and pasta, obviously!), I indulged in a bit of retail therapy along the stunning Via Condotti. Now, I'm a little partial to pink, so it was hard not to snap up some chic pastel pink dresses, scarves and gloves, which will perfectly compliment my wardrobe and, you know, a pink tutu, just goes without saying! But of course, there were so many incredible stores on this street, showcasing stunning craftsmanship and elegance. It’s all so exciting, don't you think? And it all feeds my ballet heart and tutu obsession.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of Rome holds for me. I'll be heading to the Galleria Borghese tomorrow to witness the genius of Bernini. Maybe a little sculpture will inspire me for my next Tutu choreography… and of course, I will have a little ballet photoshoot with a couple of tutus at the Trevi Fountain – just watch this space!
I have no doubt that Rome will continue to capture my heart with its unique charm and inspire my love for tutus. I have a feeling that this pink tutu adventure in the Eternal City has just begun.
Ciao for now,
Emma xoxo
