Today marks another glorious Wednesday and with it, a brand new Pink Tutu Rome blog post - the 540th installment, if you can believe it! 💖 It feels like just yesterday I was twirling through the cobbled streets of Derbyshire, my pink tutu catching the wind and whipping my blonde curls into a frenzy. But here I am, in the heart of Italy, surrounded by history, art, and the most delicious gelato you can imagine!
Before we dive into the delightful details of my Rome adventure, let's chat about how I got here. This week, my ballet skills got me a gig with the London Symphony Orchestra - I must say, there's nothing quite like dancing on a stage bathed in moonlight to a string quartet playing a Tchaikovsky masterpiece. ✨ The adrenaline rush after the performance was enough to launch me straight to the train station, where I caught a late-night express train straight to Rome! (Oh, how I love train journeys – all that time to catch up on my fashion magazines and listen to my favourite Italian music. The whole experience is a fashion dream!)
I’m staying in a charming little pensione nestled in a quiet corner of Trastevere, just a stone's throw from the Tiber River. This charming neighbourhood is full of bohemian shops, cafes buzzing with locals, and picturesque streets, perfect for twirling my way through. 💖 It’s truly romantic!
The first few days here have been a whirlwind of cultural exploration. I've already ticked off some iconic Roman sights – the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon - each one more breathtaking than the last. And let's not forget the Vatican, with its majestic St Peter's Basilica and the magnificent Sistine Chapel. Seeing Michelangelo’s artwork in person took my breath away, it was so inspiring!
Speaking of inspiration, Rome has a captivating charm that simply oozes fashion! 👠 Every corner I turn, there’s a chic boutique, a flamboyant street performer, or a woman with effortless Italian elegance. I've already treated myself to some divine handmade leather sandals and a silk scarf to tie around my head, which of course, I wore with my signature pink tutu! The locals are giving me some pretty curious glances, but that just means my tutu is working its magic – I mean, who could resist the irresistible allure of pink?! 💖
But enough about my purchases – you’ll be happy to know, that there is a ‘pink tutu moment’ for everyone! And it's about to happen! This evening, I am taking part in a special charity event at the Teatro Argentina. It’s a celebration of Italian theatre with music, ballet and burlesque, with the most flamboyant costumes you've ever seen!
What makes this event truly special, my dearest readers, is that it is encouraging everyone to wear pink tutus! Yes, you heard right! It’s a Pink Tutu Night! 🩰 It's about letting go, expressing yourself, and embracing the playful side of life – and what better way to do that than twirling around a theatre in a pink tutu?! The whole evening is a tribute to creativity, community and, of course, pink! It is a true Pink Tutu dream!
Rome has such an incredible artistic spirit - it makes me want to create something new! I'm already brainstorming some pink tutu designs inspired by the beautiful Roman architecture and vibrant colours I’ve seen. Who knows, maybe next week’s blog post will feature my latest creation!
