Pink Tutu Rome: #606 – The Eternal City in Pink!

Hello my darling Tutu Twirlers!

Welcome back to my weekly slice of Rome! It's Wednesday, 17th January, 2007, and I'm just bursting to share all the pink delights I've been discovering.

As a dedicated dancer who dreams of bringing a splash of colour to the world, my travels always involve a touch of ballet magic. It's been a busy week in the Eternal City. I saw the most stunning production of Swan Lake at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – I simply couldn't resist dressing up for the occasion. My favourite tulle tutu with its delicate pink ruffles and dazzling diamante trim made the perfect accompaniment for this timeless classic. I even caught the eye of the choreographer after the performance, he thought my ensemble was utterly fabulous!

You know, I do have to say that being in Italy truly brings out my inner fashionista! There’s something so inspiring about the romantic, vintage style, and I love to take full advantage of all the unique little boutiques here. My little pink suitcase is overflowing with treasures already: a silk scarf with hand-painted Italian landscapes, some seriously chic pink platform sandals, and even a stunning pair of vintage gloves – just the perfect accessories for a Roman ballerina!

Oh, and let’s talk food! It’s been all about Italian cuisine this week. I discovered the most enchanting little trattoria tucked away in the cobbled streets of Trastevere – the pasta was divine and they had the most delicious tiramisu. I do believe I may have already planned my next trip back just for that tiramisu alone!

And of course, no visit to Rome would be complete without exploring the wonders of history. I spent the morning marveling at the Colosseum – the sheer scale of it just left me speechless. You wouldn't believe the fabulous photo I got with my tutu on top of the arena – such a cheeky moment captured in time! I know you're all curious so you'll have to check my Pink Tutu Blog for the sneak peek!

But amidst all the history and fashion, there's something special about finding that one spot where the world feels just right. This week, my favourite little sanctuary has been the Galleria Borghese. It's a beautiful museum, nestled within its serene park, where you can lose yourself in the world of Bernini’s exquisite sculptures and Caravaggio’s paintings. It was the perfect escape from the bustling city and a haven of calm amidst the vibrant energy of Rome.

So, there you have it, my dear tutu twirlers – a little slice of my Italian dream. From dancing on stages, shopping in enchanting boutiques, to exploring ancient wonders, this trip to Rome has been a pure delight. I have to admit, my suitcase is getting pretty heavy with souvenirs – not only the ones for me but I found some incredible ballet shoes for a little ballet boutique in Derbyshire I think would make wonderful gifts. Remember to wear your best pink tutu today and don’t forget to visit my Pink Tutu Blog at www.pink-tutu.com. Until next Wednesday, my lovelies! Ciao!
