Pink Tutu Rome: #649 - La Dolce Vita & The Power of Pink!

Ciao Bella!

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means: time for a brand new Pink Tutu Rome blog post! šŸ’…šŸ’–

This week, I'm positively floating on a cloud of pink tulle after an absolutely fabulous trip to Rome. Honestly, you guys, the city was everything and more. The architecture is stunning, the food is delicious (so much pasta, obviously!), and the people are so warm and welcoming. Plus, Rome is practically made for twirling! The cobblestone streets, the gorgeous piazzasā€¦ I couldnā€™t resist whipping out my favourite pink tutu for some spontaneous pirouettes.

But first, let's rewind a little...

My journey began, as always, on a train. There's something magical about travelling by rail, you know? You're surrounded by beautiful landscapes whizzing by, you can sit back and relax, and it gives you plenty of time to plan your adventures! šŸš‚

For this particular adventure, I was on my way to Rome fromā€¦ you guessed it! Derbyshire. I'm not gonna lie, the contrast couldn't have been bigger: lush green rolling hills replaced by sun-drenched ancient monuments, cosy English pubs exchanged for lively trattorias. What a dream!

Now, I've got to tell you, arriving in Rome was an experience. Stepping off the train into Termini station, I was hit with a wave of bustling energy and vibrant colours. It was incredible! From that point onwards, my days were filled with sightseeing, shopping, and some seriously fabulous ballet.

My mission, as always, was to spread the love for all things pink, and to encourage everyone to try out a tutu for themselves. Did you know that tutus are actually surprisingly comfortable? They might look dramatic and a bit silly, but trust me, once you wear one, you'll understand! Theyā€™re the perfect combination of whimsical and elegant ā€“ who needs stilettos when you can have a perfectly twirlable tutu?! šŸ‘ šŸ©°

Speaking of twirling, letā€™s dive into some of the highlights of my Roman escapade:

Ballet, Bellini & Basilica!

It would be a crime to come to Italy without indulging in a little ballet! The Rome Opera House, or Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma, is absolutely breathtaking ā€“ the architecture, the stage, the atmosphere, it all felt like stepping back in time. I got to see a beautiful performance of ā€œLa Traviataā€, which was such a wonderful way to connect with the history and culture of this iconic city.

I did manage to sneak in some time for a spot of retail therapy too! I love discovering the hidden treasures that Italy has to offer. From handmade shoes to bespoke fabrics, it was a treasure trove for a fashion-obsessed ballerina like me.

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without exploring the iconic sights. I visited the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain (of course!), the Pantheon, and the Vatican City. I even climbed the Spanish Steps - and let me tell you, it's definitely a climb! But worth every step for the stunning views across the city. And I even saw the Sistine Chapel - incredible! You canā€™t miss that one if youā€™re in Rome. Itā€™s seriously jaw-dropping.

Roman Pasta, Pink Tutu, Pink-tinted Sunglasses:

To my delight, Rome is a true haven for any foodie ā€“ especially when it comes to pasta. From traditional carbonara to luxurious cacio e pepe, every dish I tried was a culinary masterpiece. The Italian love of fresh, quality ingredients shines through in every meal. I even attempted to make my own pasta one day. I mean, it was kind of a disaster, but hey, at least I had fun trying!

To capture the magic of this amazing city, I decided to make a small, pink-tinted scrapbook of all my adventures! The pastel colours of the pink paper, perfectly complemented with floral stickers, truly encapsulated the whimsical charm of Rome. I'll be sure to share photos and even some craft tutorials in the upcoming blog posts!

Speaking of sharing, let me give you a sneak peek into my future plans. Iā€™ve got exciting news, darling! I'll be attending the Bolshoi Ballet in London next month. Iā€™ve been looking forward to this performance for ages, and itā€™s guaranteed to be a night to remember. There's something truly magical about watching talented ballerinas grace the stage. I just know itā€™s going to be an unforgettable evening.

And of course, I'm already planning my next trip to another amazing European city! Perhaps Paris? Vienna? Maybe somewhere a bit further afield, likeā€¦ Sydney? Who knows! Keep your eyes peeled for all the juicy details on this week's blog post.

As I write this, Iā€™m sitting on my train, heading back to Derbyshire after my incredible adventure. Iā€™ve gathered inspiration, gathered some truly fabulous memories, and made so many new friends in the process. I know thereā€™s nothing quite like home, but Rome stole a piece of my heart, and I know Iā€™ll be back someday.

And if you ever find yourself in Rome, Iā€™ve got one very important piece of advice: wear a pink tutu. Go on, twirl with confidence! The world is your stage, darling! šŸŒŽ šŸ’–

Until next Wednesday, keep twirling!

Love,

Emma xx
