Pink Tutu Rome: #697 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday, 15th October 2008

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City – Rome! That's right, I've traded Derbyshire for a bit of dolce vita, and let me tell you, it's divine!

My journey here was an absolute dream. I can't tell you how much I love travelling by train. There's just something magical about watching the scenery fly past your window, feeling the rhythm of the rails under your seat. Plus, it gives me a chance to wear my best travelling outfit - you know, my fabulous new pink beret and matching polka dot dress. I was feeling very 'Audrey Hepburn in Rome', and let's be honest, who wouldn't feel fabulous in that attire?!

My Rome adventures: A little slice of La Dolce Vita

As soon as I stepped off the train, the warmth of Rome embraced me. The sunshine, the air buzzing with life, the delicious smells of pizza and coffee… it's truly captivating. And I, naturally, took it upon myself to immerse myself in it all!

Yesterday, after a delightful brunch of ricotta pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice at this charming cafe nestled near the Pantheon, I headed to the Galleria Borghese, a museum that truly deserves its fame. The sculpture collection was incredible, but honestly, the real highlight was the incredible view over Rome from the terrace!

Later in the day, I wandered through the vibrant streets, taking in the beauty of Piazza Navona and its enchanting fountains. Who doesn't love a good fountain, right? And those ornate buildings! They really know how to make an entrance here in Rome. My new floral patterned scarf got a good workout today, you can say that.

This morning, I awoke to the sound of church bells – truly a delightful way to start the day – and spent the morning discovering the Trevi Fountain. Now, I have to tell you, there's nothing quite like standing at that breathtaking fountain, the sunlight catching the sparkling water. And it seems everyone here in Rome shares my love of a good toss of a coin – I made my wish for world domination (by tutu, of course!), and we'll see how that plays out!

*But wait, there's more… *

Speaking of wishing, darling, did I tell you about the amazing opera show I went to last night?! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, right in the heart of the city – it was magnificent! I was utterly enchanted by the beauty of the performance, and yes, of course, I donned my most elegant pink tutu for the occasion.

Rome & fashion

It wouldn't be a true Emma Pink Tutu adventure without a little bit of shopping, right? So, naturally, I found myself lost in the maze of beautiful boutiques lining the city's famous streets. Let me tell you, Rome is a treasure trove for stylish souls! Today I came across this incredible silk scarf with a stunning embroidered pink flamingo, and naturally, I had to snatch it up. (No judgment, it's almost pink, isn't it? )

But really, darling, the fashion in Rome has been beyond amazing. I’ve fallen in love with all the delicate details – those intricate laces, the elegant silhouettes, the playful bursts of colour! I'm already planning my next outfit to wear out for a romantic dinner later tonight at the famous Campo de' Fiori!

More to come

Rome, you have completely stolen my heart! But this isn’t the end of my adventures in this wonderful city, darling.

Stay tuned for next week’s post, where I'll be sharing more about the Colosseum (and let’s be honest, how much it will lend itself to some pink tutu pictures!), the romantic charm of the Trastevere neighbourhood, and even a few of my favourite Roman pasta dishes! (Hint: it involves a whole lot of cheese!)

As always, thank you for joining me on this journey, darlings! Until next week, remember to stay true to yourself, be brave, and, of course, rock your pink tutus!

Lots of love,

Emma xo
