Pink Tutu Rome: Post #743 - A Day in the Eternal City!

Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Rome! I'm currently sipping cappuccino in a charming little cafe, basking in the Roman sun. It's glorious here, all cobblestone streets, stunning architecture, and the most amazing gelato I've ever tasted!

A Ballerina's Journey by Train

I arrived in Rome on Sunday after a delightful train journey from Paris. There's just something about chugging through the countryside, watching the world whizz by, that feels so romantic. And let me tell you, it’s even more romantic when you’re sporting a gorgeous pink tutu! You’d be surprised how many people smile at a tutu-wearing girl on the train, and that’s always a win in my book.

The Colosseum and a Dance of History

Yesterday, I spent the morning at the Colosseum. Honestly, it was so much bigger and grander than I imagined. I couldn't help but think about the gladiatorial fights and the crowds cheering for their champions, the echoes of history bouncing off those ancient walls. I can just imagine how they danced in the arena back then!

As I was leaving the Colosseum, I spotted a street performer who was a brilliant street dancer. He was so incredibly talented. It's always inspiring to see passion for movement expressed like that, and it reminded me that ballet is just one of many beautiful ways to express yourself through dance.

Shopping on the Via Condotti

In the afternoon, I headed over to Via Condotti, one of the most famous shopping streets in Rome. It's lined with high-end designer boutiques and there’s such an elegant air to the whole place. Of course, I had to pop into a few of the shops and indulge in a little retail therapy. It's definitely worth a visit even if you're just window shopping – there are so many amazing colours and designs! I think I'm starting to fall in love with a beautiful pink handbag with gold detailing… you know how I love a little sparkle!

A Delicious Feast at the Pantheon

After a quick bite in a charming little trattoria, where I sampled the most delicious carbonara, I decided to pay a visit to the Pantheon. The dome is breathtaking, a masterpiece of architecture! I even snapped a couple of selfies wearing my tutu – how can I resist? Then I wandered around Piazza Navona, a buzzing piazza packed with artists and street performers. There's just something captivating about Rome – even the chaos feels somehow romantic!

A Night at the Opera

For my final night in Rome, I indulged in an evening at the opera. We saw a stunning performance of La Traviata, which is definitely one of my all-time favourite operas. The music was absolutely divine, and the costumes were breathtaking! And to top it all off, a charming Italian gentleman bought me a glass of sparkling Prosecco at the interval. Such a magical night. I was swept away to a different time and place.

What I'm Wearing

And of course, what would a day in Rome be without a delightful pink tutu? This one is a beautiful pale pink silk with a hint of tulle. It’s quite lightweight and flowy, which is perfect for exploring the cobbled streets and bustling markets. I'm wearing it with a classic white t-shirt and my favourite pair of black sandals. A little bit of a Parisian ballerina twist in the Eternal City – what's not to love?

Next Week: Florence!

Next week, I'm taking the train to Florence – I can't wait to explore another beautiful Italian city and soak up more of the romance, art, and culture that Italy has to offer! I’ll be keeping my eye out for a gorgeous new tutu – wouldn’t it be lovely to have one with a Florentine floral motif? You’ll be sure to hear all about my adventures on Pink Tutu Florence, next Wednesday at www.pink-tutu.com.

Until then, embrace the colour pink, wear a tutu with pride, and enjoy the beauty all around you!

Sending you all my love from the heart of Rome,

Emma
