Pink Tutu Rome: Post #784 - Wednesday 16th June 2010 - Ciao Bella!

Ciao Bella! Well, here I am, ladies, back on the blog from the heart of Rome, and oh my, it’s simply magnificent! My travels from Derbyshire by train were absolutely dreamy - there's nothing quite like the freedom of gazing out at the rolling countryside whilst twirling to my favourite music in my favourite pink tutu, of course. And ooh la la, arriving in Rome felt like stepping into a film, a world of vibrant history and charm with stunning architecture that makes your head spin (in a good way!).

Now, as you all know, this girl loves her culture - a trip to the opera, a performance at the ballet, a fabulous show… that’s what makes my soul sing. But you’ll never guess what I discovered on my very first night here in Rome?! A secret ballet class tucked away in a little back street near the Colosseum, a real secret gem that made me absolutely giddy with delight! The studio itself felt a little rustic and bohemian, but the atmosphere was truly special, a magical bubble of pure artistry where the whole world fell away for an hour or two, and we could simply focus on our passion. My body's aching a little today, but you wouldn't believe how much joy those pirouettes brought!

This morning, my senses were overwhelmed as I strolled through the stunning Pantheon, its grand dome a testament to ancient Roman ingenuity. It really did take my breath away, and of course, I found a little spot where the light shone on my tulle skirt perfectly, making it the most divine Instagram post for the ladies! This afternoon, it’s all about the fashion – I'm off to browse some of Rome's designer boutiques to see what divine outfits I can find to complete my new "Roman Holiday" collection. (You all know I can’t go anywhere without finding at least one fabulous piece to inspire a whole new look for my blog, and Rome, with its beautiful silks and sumptuous designs, is just a dream for a budding fashionista!)

This evening, the excitement continues with a breathtaking show at Teatro dell'Opera, a truly magnificent theatre in the heart of Rome. Just a mere few days into my Italian adventure and the atmosphere here has been electrifying. The crowds, the vibrancy, the architecture – it’s like something out of a storybook. And don’t even get me started on the food. Oh, the pasta, the pizza, the gelato! Every flavour of gelato imaginable, and it all sings on my tastebuds. I have a sneaky suspicion this little trip will be adding a few inches to my waistline, but let's be honest, ladies, we've got pink tutus for that, right?

One thing I’m utterly convinced of already is that Rome is a place for anyone who wants to dream, to explore, and to soak in the magical energy of this extraordinary city. My top tip: make sure to go see the Trevi Fountain at sunset. Trust me, it's one of the most breathtaking and romantic things I’ve ever seen! And of course, you all know that every day is pink tutu day for this girl!

Until next Wednesday, ladies, remember to keep twirling!

Emma
