Pink Tutu Rome #840: Buongiorno Bella Roma!

Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

This week, I'm writing to you from the heart of Rome! I arrived on Monday and have been twirling through cobblestone streets and ancient piazzas ever since. My darling, I swear, this city is pure magic! It's a wonderland of pastel buildings, charming trattorias, and history just bursting from every corner. It's definitely lived up to all my fairytale expectations, and I haven't even seen the Colosseum yet!

As usual, I made my way here by train. You know how much I love train journeys. Something about the rhythm of the tracks and the world whizzing by makes me feel so inspired, so ready for adventure! Plus, I get to indulge my love of all things vintage and wear my favourite polka dot dress (with a subtle pink tulle overlay, of course!). ๐Ÿคซ

Anyway, I landed in Rome on Monday evening, ready to start exploring! The moment I stepped off the train, I felt the buzz of the city thrumming through my pink-tutu-clad feet. The air is so vibrant, filled with the chatter of locals, the scent of delicious Italian food, and a soundtrack of street musicians.

After dropping my suitcase at the cutest little guesthouse nestled in the heart of Trastevere, I spent the rest of the evening simply soaking it all in. I strolled down narrow streets lit by warm, golden lampposts, enjoying the music drifting from open-air trattorias, and feeling utterly charmed by this ancient city. I even had the most divine slice of tiramisu, which is quickly becoming my favourite treat.

Speaking of delicious food, my first day in Rome was filled with delectable surprises. For breakfast, I discovered the most heavenly pastry shop, filled with layers upon layers of impossibly flaky, sugary goodness. I indulged in a pain au chocolat and a cappuccino, and it was like I was stepping into a dream.

My afternoon was dedicated to a delightful afternoon shopping spree. You know, I've got a weakness for antique lace and silk scarves. And let me tell you, Rome's got the best vintage shops. I picked up the most stunning pink silk scarf, with embroidered flowers, which just screams "pink tutu traveller" to me.

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without some sightseeing. My first stop was the Trevi Fountain. And I must say, it did not disappoint. It truly is breathtaking. Imagine: a massive, white marble fountain with sculpted figures depicting the myth of the god Neptune. As you look upon the cascading water, you feel like you're being transported back to ancient times. And the sheer power of the water, its rushing sound, it's utterly magical!

Speaking of magic, how could I leave Rome without attending a ballet performance?! You know how much I love the elegance and grace of a ballet, and it feels even more magical under the Italian sky.

Wednesday, July 13th, marks a momentous occasion โ€“ a beautiful ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, featuring a contemporary take on Giselle. Now, Giselle is my favourite ballet. It's so powerful and heartbreaking, yet hopeful at the same time. I cannot wait to see it performed in this stunning theatre! This is the heart of Roman culture, and I canโ€™t wait to share my experience with you all!

Of course, no adventure in Italy is complete without some delightful fashion discoveries! I picked up the cutest vintage brooches for my hat, perfect for a jaunty walk through Roman gardens. The detail in these brooches is so delicate - each one is a little work of art. And to celebrate being in Rome, I decided to buy myself a new pair of stylish flat sandals, ideal for those long walks around the ancient streets.

The energy in Rome is truly electric, filled with passionate artists and friendly locals, all embracing life with a certain je ne sais quoi. I feel like Iโ€™m truly connecting with this enchanting city and feeling deeply inspired.
