Pink Tutu Rome: #852 - October 5th, 2011: Dolce Vita and Tutu Dreams

Ciao bella! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, dedicated to all things pink, pretty, and tutu-rific! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of Roman sunshine and pink-tinted wanderings on www.pink-tutu.com. This week, I'm swapping the stage for the cobblestones, trading in my pointe shoes for my trusty walking boots, all in the name of spreading the pink tutu love around the Eternal City!

My train journey down from Derbyshire was, as always, a treat for the senses. I packed my favourite fuchsia suitcase, bursting with enough pink tutus and sparkly ballet shoes to make Cinderella jealous, and settled in for the adventure. Every station offered a glimpse of the ever-changing countryside – rolling hills, quaint villages, and even the odd ancient ruin to add a touch of Romanesque intrigue to my journey.

And here I am, in Rome! The air buzzes with a charming chaos – scooter horns, friendly greetings, and the enticing scent of freshly baked pastries drifting from bakeries around every corner. It's like a dream come true, all swirling around me in a technicolour tapestry of culture, history, and (most importantly) endless fashion inspiration!

Speaking of fashion, my first order of business was a little shopping therapy. I couldn't resist browsing the boutiques near the Pantheon, where the light streamed through the oculus and bathed everything in a divine golden glow. I snagged a beautiful silk scarf – a dusty rose, naturally, – perfect for draping over my favourite pink tutu when I visit the Vatican.

Tonight, however, it’s all about ballet! I'm off to see "La Traviata" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. This stunning theatre, with its breathtaking frescoes and intricate decorations, will provide the perfect setting for a dramatic evening. Imagine the impact of those famous tutus on this majestic stage!

To add to the excitement, I'm having a delightful "Pink Tutu Roman Holiday" picnic in the Borghese Gardens tomorrow. I've picked up some delicious fresh fruit from the Campo de’ Fiori market, a bottle of Italian sparkling wine, and some decadent Italian cheeses for my spread. Think picturesque scenes under a weeping willow tree, the scent of pine needles filling the air, and me, in a twirling tutu, of course!

It’s not just about sightseeing and shows. I’ve also been soaking up the atmosphere, watching street performers in Piazza Navona, people-watching in cafes, and letting the city's unique energy work its magic on my creative spirit. I'm inspired to design my own “Roman Tutu”, a bold design full of vibrant colours and rich textures, a perfect nod to the ancient yet modern soul of this captivating city.

And while I'm here, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t pay a visit to the Trevi Fountain! They say if you toss a coin over your shoulder, you’ll return to Rome. Naturally, my coin will be a sparkly, pink one! Maybe I’ll even toss in an extra coin for the wish to inspire even more people to embrace their inner tutu-wearing ballerina! After all, there's no better feeling than the joy of dancing, and it's contagious, like a happy giggle shared with a stranger on a cobbled street.

Oh, and just a quick peek into my upcoming plans – this weekend, I’m going to be exploring the Colosseum, walking the ancient Roman Forum, and possibly even attending a street ballet performance. (Fingers crossed! Imagine a spontaneous flash mob in the heart of Rome, with everyone dressed in tutus!)

If you have any travel tips for Rome, or want to share your own ballerina dreams, do leave a comment below! And don’t forget, spread the pink tutu love! It’s not just about clothing; it’s about embracing your individuality, your creativity, and your inner child’s playful spirit. Just like Rome, every day is an adventure, and life is meant to be danced! Until next Wednesday, stay twirly and stylish, darling!
