Pink Tutu Rome: Post 874 - The Eternal City, Oh Darling!
Hello darlings! It's Emma from Derbyshire, England here, and I'm SO excited to be posting from the incredible, magical, magnificent city of Rome! This week's post is all about my first 24 hours here, a whirlwind of romance, cobblestones, and delicious food, and did I mention, oh so much pink?!
This week's trip was inspired by a gorgeous ballet production I saw at Sadler's Wells back in February. The performance, featuring the ethereal "Swan Lake", just stirred up this irresistible longing for a trip to Rome, the home of ballet, beauty and pizza!
Now, let's be honest, planning for this trip was a whole different kettle of fish! Trying to find a pink tutu that screamed "Roman holiday" while still being comfortable enough for long train journeys and endless exploration? Let me tell you, it was a mission! But I did it, I always do, and darling, this little number, with it's swishy tulle and intricate pink lace trim, is my Rome chariot!
My journey here, by the way, was pure bliss. The train ride was such a magical, picturesque experience. Passing through fields of golden wheat and then, bam, seeing the mountains and olive groves as we got closer to Italy. And did I mention, my perfect travel companion, my new polka dot suitcase with the tiny pink bow?! Oh, darling, it's simply divine.
Arriving at Roma Termini was such an exhilarating experience. The station itself is beautiful with high arches and marble floors, just a scene straight out of a movie! The bustle of life in Rome hit me the second I stepped off the train – so much excitement, so much history, so much beauty all in one place! It's like every corner you turn is another story just waiting to be discovered.
Now, let's be honest, once the luggage was safely deposited in our room at a little pink boutique hotel right near the Colosseum (oh, it's practically my favourite place already!), my shopping instincts kicked in! First stop: The Trevi Fountain! (Now, we're talking Roman holiday vibes! ) Did you know there's actually a pink little coffee stand there?! Naturally, I had to have a cappuccino. And a tiny pink macaroon too! It was truly a moment to remember, just standing there with the sunshine on my face, sipping my cappuccino in my fabulous tutu!
Next, we wandered through the narrow cobblestone streets, getting utterly lost (on purpose, of course!), discovering charming little boutiques and bakeries. And did I mention, it was just the right temperature for my pink tutu, the warm sun against my skin was absolute perfection! We picked up some homemade pastries (with even more pink sprinkles! ) and a bottle of prosecco (perfect for my ballet class at the academy later).
The Pantheon! It's so grand! So Roman! And honestly, the light coming through that big hole at the top - pure magic, darling! Just as perfect as my pink tulle outfit, let me tell you!
Then it was time to for the ballet class, which was exhilarating, darling! I had to put my pink tutu in a safe spot to keep it in pristine condition for the night (it’s a real princess look for this evening) but wearing that pink dance leotard felt good! Oh darling, there were dancers from all over the world, the Italian ballerina's are all so graceful and elegant. And you know what they were all wearing on their legs? That’s right: pink tights, perfect to pair with any of our Pink Tutu fashion choices!
Tonight, we're attending a show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! Oh, I'm absolutely thrilled! The performance is “La Traviata”. It's already a sell-out. (Yes, darlings, I managed to secure tickets for myself and my travel companion). I can't wait to feel the magic, hear the music, and watch all the talented dancers. I'm already sketching designs for a new pink tutu inspired by the whole production in my mind. It’s gonna be dreamy, with delicate ruffles and feathers, perfect for catching every spotlight.
This post is a quick update, darlings, just a snippet of this glorious city. Next week I'll tell you all about the performance (oh, how beautiful was that?!), more Roman exploration and, oh yes, there's going to be some serious shoe-shopping happening! (More about that later!).
Until then, be fabulous, wear pink, and make sure you dance every day!
With love from a pink tutu-loving girl,
Emma
