Buongiorno, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for your weekly dose of pink-tutu-infused wanderlust! Today, I'm beaming from the Eternal City - Rome, baby! I've arrived in style, of course, with a hot pink tutu swirling around me as I disembarked the train from Florence (train journeys are just so much more glamorous with a tutu). I can't believe I'm finally here, breathing in the rich history and feeling the energy pulsate off every cobbled street!
A Week in Pink in Florence
First things first, you have to see the highlights from my Florentine adventure! (Oh, and check out my new bag - I got it at the most fabulous little boutique on Via Tornabuoni. I just had to have it. Iāll show you all the goodies when we're back in the Pink Tutu studio next week!)
I absolutely fell in love with Florence - the breathtaking Renaissance art, the magnificent Duomo (that view, darling!), and, of course, the shopping! I could spend days exploring the shops along the Ponte Vecchio, imagining myself as a young noblewoman choosing beautiful fabrics and jewels.
One of the absolute highlights was a visit to the Uffizi Gallery. Honestly, Michelangelo's "David" left me speechless! And the paintings! Every single one felt like a story unfolding. It's like all the history of this magical place just seeped into my soul!
And of course, what's a pink-tutu pilgrimage without a touch of ballet? You'll never guess what I stumbled upon in Florence - a hidden little ballet studio tucked away in a courtyard! It was absolutely perfect. We worked on our pliƩs, our chassƩ, and I even attempted a jetƩ.
Roman Rhapsody
But, back to Rome! I've just arrived at my little pensione and my heart is already singing! My room has a balcony with a stunning view of the Roman Forum. Can you even imagine?! The smell of jasmine fills the air, the sounds of distant chatter create a wonderful soundtrack, and the sun is just starting to set, painting the sky in a breathtaking array of oranges and pinks (yes, of course Iām wearing a pink tutu! What else would I be wearing?). Itās the perfect romantic setting for a tutu-clad traveler!
Tonight, Iām venturing out to sample some local Roman delicacies ā maybe a plate of spaghetti carbonara or a pizza margherita (or maybe both!). I just know it's going to be divine. Then, I'll be catching a ballet performance at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma, because there's no better way to enjoy this incredible city than with a dose of classical ballet under the twinkling Italian lights!
Tutu Travel Tips
I'm already collecting the best travel tips for my pink-tutu loving friends! Here's my hot list of must-doās in Rome, especially if you love dancing, fashion and, well, pink:
- Pink Promenade: Rome is a wonderland of fashion! Donāt miss out on browsing the charming shops along the Via Condotti. I hear the latest Valentino is simply divine!
- Rome Through Rose-Tinted Glasses: Embrace the romantic aura of this city and wander the cobblestone streets (even if theyāre a little bit tricky in a tutu ā oops, tripped on a cobblestone once or twice ā my lovely little Italian shoes!), fall in love with the charm of the Pantheon, the Piazza Navona, and the Spanish Steps.
- Tutu Tours: Don't forget to climb the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and imagine gladiators battling! Remember to capture some pictures with your tutu fluttering against the backdrop.
- Ballet Bliss: Catch a ballet show at Teatro dellāOpera di Roma, soak up the atmosphere, and feel your spirit soar!
- Food, Glorious Food!: From the perfect gelato at Giolitti (my favorite is strawberry!), to delicious pasta at a local trattoria (be sure to grab a plate of gnocchi al pesto!), don't miss out on the local delicacies.
Pink Tutu Fashion Finds
And let's talk fashion! I found the most divine shops, where every garment seemed to whisper āItalian chicā! Oh, and I found a little Pink Tutu Roma gift shop filled with cute ballerina accessories and tutus (you guessed it, pink ones!). I even snagged myself a darling pair of rose-gold ballet shoes ā perfect for navigating these stunning streets!
