Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1069)

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015

"Mamma Mia, Rome, you're simply divine!"

Buongiorno, darlings! Welcome back to the Pink Tutu blog, this week coming to you live from the Eternal City - Rome! It’s the very first time I’ve visited this legendary place and oh my, let me tell you, I’m in absolute awe. As soon as I stepped off the train and took in the magnificent Colosseum in all its ancient glory, I knew I’d be captivated by this vibrant city. The train journey was just fab, winding its way through the rolling hills and olive groves, reminding me of those picturesque paintings by that famous artist – oh what’s his name again, the one who loved the Roman countryside? [Note to self, Google Roman landscape painters when back in my little flat!].

Pink Tutus and Trevi Fountains

I’ve packed my absolute favourite tutu for this trip – it's a dazzling pink masterpiece with a shimmering sequin detail, the perfect twirling partner for navigating Rome’s enchanting cobblestone streets. You know me, I couldn’t resist adding a touch of Pink Tutu sparkle to this already fabulous city! It turned a few heads, I tell you, and the local mammas were certainly intrigued. A little girl even stopped me in the street to give me a big smile and twirl along with me. It was such a delightful moment, reminding me of why I love this crazy tutu journey.

And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the iconic Trevi Fountain! The majestic Baroque architecture and the cascading water create an almost magical atmosphere. I spent ages staring at the shimmering water and taking photos. It's said if you throw a coin in with your back to the fountain, you’ll return to Rome someday. Well, I tossed a couple of euro into the water and my heart is already yearning for a return trip. Who knows, maybe I’ll be twirling down the cobblestone streets in my pink tutu next summer!

Shopping in Rome

A fashionista like myself couldn’t possibly resist a spot of shopping in this glorious fashion capital. From high-end boutiques to bustling street markets, Rome offers something for every taste and budget. And I'm here to tell you, it’s just bursting with colourful fabrics, exquisite accessories, and beautiful vintage treasures! Today, I treated myself to a gorgeous scarlet scarf with intricate floral designs, the perfect way to inject a bit of Italian romance into my winter wardrobe.

An Evening at the Opera

This evening, I'm planning to catch a performance at the Opera House – La Scala – and let me tell you, it’s going to be magical! This beautiful city is truly a symphony of colours, sights, and sounds. I just know I’ll be spellbound. Of course, I'm going to channel my inner ballerina and slip into my most elegant outfit for the occasion. This will require a careful outfit choice, but that’s part of the fun. I’ll be sure to post photos on the blog so you can see the fabulous details!

Foodie Delights

And how could I forget the food?! Rome is a haven for foodies, with mouth-watering dishes at every corner. From traditional pasta dishes to delectable pizzas, each bite is an absolute treat. I've already tasted some of the local delicacies, including spaghetti alla carbonara, pasta with artichokes and fresh seafood. It's safe to say that I'm absolutely in love with Italian food, and I can't wait to try more!
