Ciao bella! It's your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, back from the Eternal City – Rome! As you know, this Wednesday post is my Rome diary, chronicling my latest adventures in this stunning city. It's a city that truly takes my breath away – ancient history, delectable food, stunning architecture and an air of magic, Rome is definitely a place you'll want to put on your bucket list.
Today's adventure took me to the heart of Rome, and I think it might be one of my all-time favourites! My little pink tutu is very much the centrepiece of every look I put together here in Rome, just as it is for my travels and daily life in my beloved Derbyshire. It just seems to elevate any look, you know?
Rome is all about colours, about feeling inspired and free, and my pink tutu fits perfectly in this dazzling, romantic setting. Think bright florals, gorgeous prints, cascading ruffles and all those chic layers that I adore – every outfit, every accessory, every little detail in Rome sings out loud in beautiful, vibrant colours.
A Day Filled with Culture
The morning dawned gloriously, and it seemed like Rome was ready to embrace me. I kicked things off at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Rome Opera House) where I got a real glimpse into the Italian ballet scene. I always love discovering local dance communities and learning how their unique styles differ from the one I've been immersed in all my life. After my ballet class, I explored the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's rich history, marvelling at its grand architecture and thinking about the incredible ballets that have graced its stage. I imagine this iconic theatre would be a true treat for ballet aficionados like myself – maybe one day I'll return to see a performance there, wouldn't that be lovely!
Of course, what would a trip to Rome be without exploring its historical treasures? A hop on the train took me to the Colosseum – its immense grandeur and presence never cease to amaze me. Every stone speaks volumes about the ancient Romans and their legacy. It's a time-traveling experience like no other. I’ve taken so many photos there, because every angle feels picture-perfect!
A Pink Tutu’s Fashion Journey Through Rome
As any true fashion lover will tell you, Rome is a shopping paradise! It’s like a giant department store for beautiful clothes, jewellery and shoes – with an authentic charm that you just won't find anywhere else! I had to give in to the lure of some incredible boutique windows, and after carefully selecting a handful of divine silk scarves, I ended the day in a flurry of beautiful, elegant fabric, adorned with floral prints and timeless colours – I could barely resist picking up everything!
After all that, nothing beats strolling down the iconic Via dei Condotti! It’s lined with glamorous, world-famous designer shops. It feels a bit like stepping back into an old film, only even more beautiful! The elegant shops, the grand displays, the marble architecture… the experience was like a fairytale come to life. Even the charming pavement cafes that line this fabulous street exude pure romance!
Speaking of a fairytale, imagine my delight when I saw my dream shoes on display in a quaint little boutique just off the main street – ballet flats! Oh, but these weren't just any ballet flats – they were custom-made in the most divine shade of rose, featuring a beautiful hand-painted rose design.
Of course, as you all know, I couldn't resist and they are now mine to wear, all thanks to a special little Parisian designer who dreams in the colour pink, just like me. This divine find just made my whole trip – it felt like a perfectly scripted movie scene, you know? It really did!
The Roman sunshine is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a timeless canvas filled with passion and love – I found myself feeling so inspired, like the city was pushing me to be my absolute best, like all my creative passions could really flourish here! And so, my dear followers, the moment you've all been waiting for has arrived – I’ve actually been experimenting with some new dance routines! I’ve got the Roman sunlight, my gorgeous pink tutu and I’ve even managed to incorporate my lovely Parisian shoes into my routine – just you wait for the video!
An Enchanting Ending to My Day
Of course, what is a trip to Rome without enjoying a little “dolce vita?” I tucked into some delicious authentic Italian pasta and a decadent gelato for a sweet ending to my day.
