Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1326 – The Eternal City of Pink

Ciao, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for your weekly dose of Pink Tutu adventures, and this week, we’re in the heart of Rome! That's right, the Eternal City is living up to its name - it feels like it's been here forever and I could easily stay for eternity myself!

I travelled here by train, of course! I adore trains – they are the most magical way to journey. Just imagine – a rolling carriage full of excited dreams, travelling through a picturesque landscape, with the wind gently whispering secrets through the open window. It's a poetic experience, especially with the added flourish of a pink tutu. I'm sure everyone agrees with me on this! The journey itself is a big part of the adventure and Rome really is a city to explore and take in at your own pace.

It's been a whirlwind of gelato, cobbles, history and more, and it's safe to say I'm already hopelessly smitten. From the ancient Colosseum and the captivating Trevi Fountain, to the enchanting Pantheon and the picturesque Trastevere neighbourhood, Rome is a feast for the senses. I can't tell you how many photos I've already snapped!

Now, as a firm believer in embracing all things pink, I was thrilled to discover just how much pink Rome already loves! From the dusky blush of the setting sun casting its warm glow on the ancient stones, to the dainty pink flowers blooming in window boxes, Rome seems to whisper a gentle symphony of pink throughout its streets. It’s a delightful surprise and, let’s face it, I can’t imagine a better colour scheme!

Let me take you on a little tour:

Pink Treasures: A Day of Delight

Today I embarked on a quest for all things pink, and oh my, did I find it! First up, a delightful little shop tucked away in the Trastevere neighborhood, crammed with all manner of pretty things: pink candles, floral scented soaps, hand-painted scarves, delicate ceramic trinkets, and vintage jewellery, every corner of the shop had a touch of magic.

The streets of Rome are full of street performers too. This is another way that I support myself in my travel adventure - I sometimes earn my travelling keep by giving impromptu street performances in places where I go! There was a ballet street performer today who caught my eye. We chatted for ages - he loved my tutu. I taught him how to perform a bit of pointe. It’s great to see so many people sharing their passion and creativity with others.

Then it was time for a little indulgence. Can you imagine a place like Rome without gelato? I had the most amazing pink pistachio and strawberry gelato that I ever tasted! The creamy pistachio was rich and indulgent, while the juicy strawberry was refreshingly sweet – it was a delicious marriage of flavours, all wrapped up in a pink cone. Perfection, just perfection!

The journey would be incomplete without visiting a beautiful ballet studio - Rome is teeming with studios offering world-class ballet lessons. This is the dream right? It was amazing to connect with the passionate dance community in Rome. It’s fascinating to see how the Italian ballet scene contrasts with our style in England, they have such amazing talent and style. Their performance had some incredible steps, but the pinkness was a bit limited so, as always, I brought a dash of my Derbyshire style! The teachers absolutely loved it!

Dinner and a Show: The Best Way to End the Day

After a whirlwind day exploring the captivating city, I tucked into a delectable Italian dinner. Imagine - a heaping plate of freshly made pasta topped with vibrant cherry tomatoes and fragrant basil. So tasty, even without the pink, but I couldn't resist adding a splash of pink to my table with a beautiful vintage napkin!

For the grand finale, it was time for the Opera! An elegant affair at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The grandeur of the building and the opulence of the interior is something else – you could practically hear the opera voices booming even before the performance began. And to add to the excitement, there were actual pink velvet seats! It really doesn't get much more glamorous!

It was a captivating performance – a dramatic whirlwind of emotion, laughter and tears. I almost had to break out in pirouettes at several points, it really got me going, just like ballet class does! The entire performance was just sublime and I emerged from the theatre filled with inspiration and happiness.

Pink Inspiration

It’s days like these that really inspire my Pink Tutu ethos! Rome truly is a place where history whispers, art comes to life, and food tantalises the senses. What I love is the energy, the romance, and of course the fashion. And just imagine if everyone were wearing a pink tutu too!

As you can see, darling, it’s just one incredible day after another in the amazing city of Rome. Next week we will be going to Venice – it will be amazing! So make sure you’re all signed up to Pink Tutu.com for more fabulous posts. You wouldn’t want to miss out on the excitement!
