Ciao bellas! Well, here I am in Rome! Rome, the Eternal City, a place steeped in history and, more importantly, stunning architecture that looks positively fabulous in my latest pink tutu. 🩰
This trip marks my fourteenth visit to Italy and as usual, I’ve arrived by train. You know I love those railway journeys - the clatter of wheels on tracks, the breathtaking landscapes passing by, and the freedom of reading, napping, and daydreaming while hurtling through the countryside. Just me and my faithful pink tutu (which, of course, gets a lot of admiring glances from fellow travellers, even at 7am!)
But let's get to Rome itself! I am beyond excited for all the beautiful ballet shows, shops, and fabulous street performers I'll encounter. Today, however, I'm going to share some insights from my first 24 hours, and boy, has it been a whirlwind!
First stop? Pizza, naturally! 🍕
After settling into my beautiful little hotel, right by the Pantheon, it was straight off for an authentic Italian pizza. Let’s face it, you can't be in Rome without indulging in this pizza heaven. I ordered a margarita, and the flavours just exploded in my mouth - so simple yet so delicious! You can just imagine me in my pink tutu, delicately tucking into the cheesy perfection with a glass of red wine.
Fashionista Frenzy at the Spanish Steps! 👠
The next day was dedicated to my absolute favourite part of travelling - shopping! I headed straight to the Spanish Steps. Oh my! I almost tripped over myself with excitement, and not just because of the elegant staircase.
You know, Rome is simply overflowing with charming shops and designer boutiques. I've already found some gems! My eyes are constantly drawn to all the vibrant colors, stylish pieces, and unique finds, all perfectly suited for my tutu-loving fashionista heart. It's practically impossible to resist! I came home with a new hat that would look amazing with my newest pink tutu, and a pair of earrings that shimmer with the promise of an unforgettable evening at the opera!
Ballet Beauty at the Teatro dell’Opera 🎭
This evening, however, it was all about ballet. The Teatro dell’Opera is just about the most stunning place I’ve ever seen. Just stepping inside feels like a fairytale! It’s such an old theatre and is simply steeped in tradition, and that's how I feel about my ballet! My new hat and earrings were the perfect finishing touches as I joined the audience, taking in the majestic art of dance. A beautiful, elegant, modern interpretation of Swan Lake; graceful and passionate dancers telling their story through a magical story of love, betrayal, and ultimately, forgiveness. It was mesmerizing.
I do wish my tutu had been a little less formal but it was simply too special to leave in the hotel! You can see why I'm falling in love with this city. Every day feels like an exciting new ballet routine - graceful and full of beautiful surprises.
