#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella! Post 1441 – Roman Holiday in a Tutu!
Ciao bella! It’s Emma from #PinkTutuRome, back with you from the Eternal City! My lovely pink tutu is twirling with excitement because I’m here in Rome for the week, and trust me, I’ve got lots of pink-tastic adventures to tell you about!
This week on #PinkTutuRome we’re going to be doing lots of exploring, discovering the treasures of this beautiful city, indulging in some divine gelato (can you really have too much gelato?!), and of course, soaking up the fabulous fashion scene!
I’m so excited to be here in Rome. My last ballet performance in Derbyshire helped fund my trip and you know I can't resist a bit of European adventure! Italy, with its romantic cobblestone streets, majestic fountains and delicious food – it’s practically tailor-made for a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like me.
I love traveling by train, watching the countryside whiz past. And you know, it's the perfect time to people-watch! I always manage to pick out the most fabulous outfit for my journey and today was no exception. It was my favourite rose-pink ruffled top from that little boutique in Derbyshire and, of course, the pinkest tutu I have!
So, today, the first stop on the #PinkTutuRome itinerary was the Colosseum. It's a truly awe-inspiring sight. It was so busy, but it's easy to see why this ancient structure is such a popular destination. Did you know that it was built for gladiator battles? Amazing, right?!
I think my favourite bit was wandering through the arched passageways imagining all the noise and excitement of the battles and the crowds. I can't help myself, I try to envision a ballerina dancing in this arena... wouldn’t that be spectacular?!
Afterwards, I took a stroll down Via dei Fori Imperiali. I just adore wandering these ancient streets. And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without some gelato. Today, my choice was a dreamy concoction of hazelnut and pistachio – absolute heaven!
In the evening, it was off to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for a truly spectacular ballet performance. It was the most exquisite show, featuring breathtaking choreography and costumes so beautiful they were like dreams brought to life! My heart is still overflowing with awe, so many of the costumes had the most incredible tulle tutus!
Tomorrow, we'll be discovering the Roman Forum and visiting the Pantheon, the iconic temple dedicated to all the gods. There is so much history, I'm dying to explore more. We'll also be doing some window-shopping in the chic Trastevere neighbourhood – let's just say, Rome has a serious fashion game!
For tonight, it’s back to my hotel. Rome has the most charming accommodation with lots of pastel colours! Time to put my feet up and plan tomorrow’s outfits... I mean, a ballerina always needs the perfect look, don’t you agree?
Stay tuned, #PinkTutuRome. There are so many more pink-tastic adventures to come in this incredible city!
Ciao!
#PinkTutuRome: Exploring the Forum and Shopping for Treats in Trastevere – Post 1441.2!Ciao again! Today was an absolutely beautiful day here in Rome! I woke up bright and early, feeling excited for another adventure with my favourite pink tutu by my side. My little boutique on Derbyshire has some of the most spectacular outfits!
After breakfast in my lovely pink-toned hotel room, it was off to the Roman Forum! I donned my best ruffled, light pink, midi skirt and matching tutu – all about embracing the timeless beauty of the ancient world while still being perfectly #PinkTutuRome.
Let me tell you, the Forum was mind-blowing. The remnants of temples, basilicas, and marketplaces just take your breath away. Imagine the crowds, the activity, the bustle! I felt like I had travelled through time and stood in the heart of ancient Rome.
Did you know they have beautiful ancient marble paving all around the forum? It was all slightly uneven so you have to watch your step... thankfully, I have an inner ballet dancer which always helps with balancing! I was picturing Roman dancers performing between the buildings.
You just get so lost in your own thoughts... And maybe a bit in all the details of this incredibly fascinating location, especially for a girl like me! I can't wait to share pictures of it all with you!
After an hour or so soaking up the atmosphere, my tummy started to rumble (that always happens in the most perfect places!), so we headed over to Trastevere. And wow, I can already say this is my new favourite neighbourhood in Rome!
Firstly, can we talk about the cobblestone streets? Charming, charming, charming! With flower-filled window boxes everywhere, it just felt so pretty, especially when the light was shining on the yellow, white and pink coloured houses.
Then, you've got these gorgeous little boutiques that just beg you to wander inside. My friend Chloe and I explored every single one. I even found the most darling little pair of pink shoes that just had to come home with me. They are pink velvet flats with pearl buttons... divine!
The best part of it all? Trastevere has a bunch of absolutely amazing cafes and trattorias. For lunch, we opted for a little family-run cafe tucked away in a quiet alleyway. I ordered a traditional Roman pasta dish – carbonara – oh my, it was perfection.
With my taste buds satisfied and my shopping bag overflowing, I just knew the perfect thing for the afternoon… gelato. The first stop, a quaint little cafe I found just a few steps away. I took one look at the pistachio flavour and fell in love all over again. Seriously, is there a flavour more divine than pistachio gelato?! You bet there is! Strawberry. And after all this walking around, my pink shoes were the best for navigating those uneven Roman pavements, even if the shoes are a little impractical, the way the velvet gleamed in the Roman sunlight made the shoes so worthwhile.
Today has been nothing but bliss. All the ancient Roman sites and this delicious, picturesque part of Rome – I've got a little crush on this city and its beauty! And of course, I haven't even mentioned all the gorgeous, incredible fashion stores and cafes I found all day – so be sure to check my Instagram and Facebook stories for those juicy updates. I did some video shots too!
Time for a quick outfit change, because this evening is going to be another big one. The National Academy of Dance, Roma! A night of pure balletic pleasure. I can’t wait to see the beautiful dancing and the costumes!
Ciao bella!
#PinkTutuRome: The Pantheon and More Pasta Bliss! Post 1441.3Bonjour, dear readers! It's another gorgeous day in Rome, and my heart is still beating to the rhythm of this magical city!
After breakfast in my dreamy pink hotel room (pink roses this time!), I was excited to get the day underway and explore the majestic Pantheon. It’s a huge domed temple that's literally been standing since the second century! It just blows your mind when you consider all the historical events that happened here and how many people have walked through these very doors over the centuries.
I absolutely love the perfect symmetry of the Pantheon's exterior. It has this amazing sense of stillness, just like those serene ballet moves.
Inside, it's equally impressive! They have an immense oculus, which is like a giant skylight, in the dome. The sunshine streamed right in, and the whole Pantheon seemed to light up with this dazzling glow – magical!
Now, can we talk about the floors? They're all original marble from two thousand years ago. Can you imagine! I stood for ages just looking down at it, admiring the beauty and how people actually walked on these marble slabs in ancient Roman times... it just feels special.
After that dose of historical brilliance, I had a hankering for more delicious Roman food! I found a traditional pasta joint near Piazza Navona. It was packed, but worth the wait. And let me tell you, that spaghetti alla gricia? Absolutely mouthwatering! This time, it came with a heap of freshly grated pecorino cheese... bliss!
Then it was off to explore a nearby market bursting with delicious aromas of fresh bread, pastries and local cheeses. It felt so authentic and Roman! I also treated myself to some pink-coloured Italian strawberries. They were a bit bigger and juicier than I've ever seen and oh, so sweet.
After all that yummy stuff, we headed back to the hotel to get changed for a fabulous evening at the Teatro Argentina – I can't wait to share the magical experience I had there!
Rome has so many incredible theatres, from the grandest opera houses to smaller intimate venues like this. And guess what? My #PinkTutuRome outfit today? A classic white tutu with a fluffy pink feathered top… just divine.
Ciao!
