Wednesday 2023-02-01: Post 1443
Ciao Bella! Well, darling readers, I’ve made it! After a whirlwind train journey through the French countryside, the Swiss Alps and a little Italian magic, I’ve landed in Rome – and it’s everything I dreamed of! Rome is steeped in history, oozing with romance and is a veritable feast for the senses!
And let’s be honest, this Pink Tutu Princess can’t resist a bit of European chic! The shops here are bursting with exquisite fabrics, timeless designs, and, of course, a delightful selection of pretty pink tutus – you know me too well! 🛍️
I’ve just finished settling into my hotel (all perfectly pink and princess-like, of course!) and took a little wander around the neighbourhood. The streets are a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours and sights. The sun is shining, the air is alive with music and laughter, and, the smells! From fresh pastries to creamy espresso, my tummy is already in food heaven. 🤤
I couldn't resist a little detour for a spot of shopping, naturally. And guess what, darlings? I stumbled upon the most beautiful, hand-crafted, ballet shoes! I snagged a pair for myself, of course, they are so gorgeous they practically danced themselves onto my feet. I’ll have to add some photos to my Instagram later, so do check those out, my loves. 😉
The Colosseum - Where History and Drama Come Alive
Today, however, I'm diving straight into Roman history! I've booked myself a tour of the iconic Colosseum. Imagine it, darlings! The stories those stones have seen. The gladiators, the emperors, the roar of the crowds… Can’t you just see it, picture a full house audience? Oh the theatre! I'm positively bubbling with excitement. I can feel a grand dramatic dance sequence forming in my mind already. Can you picture me swirling amidst those ancient arches, dressed in a shimmering pink tutu, channeling the very spirit of the Colosseum? (Oh, I can practically hear the dramatic orchestral music playing already!). 🎵
Later, we are off to a delightful little restaurant right in the heart of the city, a truly charming little corner spot with little pink tables and a very special something…a menu dedicated to pasta, oh yes! Rome is all about pasta, and with my name Emma, it is just fate!
Tonight, I’ll be stepping back into the world of ballet with a visit to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. They’re performing "Giselle" – and I've heard it's spectacular. Can’t wait to be mesmerised by the elegance and emotion of classical ballet. Then of course, we’ll end the night in a chic and elegant bar - sipping champagne under the stars, of course. It's going to be a simply divine evening. 🍷💫
A Pink Tutu Itinerary - The Week Ahead!
The week ahead is filled with excitement! I’m determined to soak up every last drop of Roman magic. My itinerary? (Remember, darling, I always welcome any suggestions!).
- Thursday: A full day in the Vatican! I can't wait to see the Vatican Museum's unparalleled artwork, especially Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. I know this will be an inspirational afternoon, full of breathtaking beauty, and a wonderful opportunity to tap into the grandeur of history! 🏛️🎨
- Friday: It’s shopping day! Rome is a shopper’s paradise, with some seriously incredible shops tucked away down cobblestone alleys and beautiful squares. I'm already dreaming of silk scarves and elegant Italian shoes! But darling, tell me, where's the best place to pick up a real show-stopping Italian handbag, perfect for a ballerina who’s always on the go! Any recommendations? Let me know! 👜
- Saturday: Time to explore the history, sights, and smells of the famous Roman Forum. Those iconic ruins have been echoing with stories for centuries. I’ve been practicing my dramatic poses, can you just picture me? A ballerina lost in time and amongst the remnants of Roman magnificence? What a photo op! 🏛️ 📸
- Sunday: It’s all about rest and relaxation – but I can't forget my favourite weekly treat, my ballet class! Thankfully there is a wonderful ballet studio a short walk away from the hotel, so I’m feeling happy and quite relaxed knowing I have some tutu time coming up! 🩰 💖
- Monday: It’s the day for another tour – I've booked myself a trip to the Catacombs! Imagine, miles of ancient tunnels below the city…it's dark, eerie, and oh-so fascinating! I'll be careful not to step on any loose stones, darlings! You never know what might be hiding underfoot in those ancient depths. 😨
Tuesday: Today, I’m making a date with art. We’re heading to the Galleria Borghese and, darling, those sculptures! I’m really excited to experience the work of Bernini – a master sculptor. I can just picture those breathtaking, marble figures all posed in their grand dramatic moments, it’s going to be simply magnificent! 🖼️
