Ciao Bella!
Well, here I am, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, and I've finally touched down in the Eternal City! Rome, with its cobbled streets, ancient history, and delectable cuisine, has already stolen a little piece of my heart.
This week, we're ditching the usual Wednesday ballet routine (although I did manage a quick plié and fouetté in the train station – I’m never truly off-duty!) to explore all the wonder that Rome has to offer.
As always, I packed my pinkest tutu – a fluffy, tulle dream that practically floats in the Roman air – and a wardrobe full of dazzling delights. My latest acquisition? A blush-pink, silk maxi dress, perfect for a day of strolling through ancient ruins or enjoying an aperitivo under the Tuscan sun. I just know it's going to be the perfect backdrop for some seriously Instagram-worthy shots!
A Touch of History (and a Touch of Pink)
This morning, I embarked on a pilgrimage to the Colosseum. This impressive amphitheater, steeped in history and buzzing with the echoes of gladiatorial battles, truly takes your breath away. You can almost feel the thrill of the crowds, the roar of the lions, and the clash of swords! Even the toughest Roman general couldn't resist the power of a pink tutu, I'm sure.
From the Colosseum, we wandered through the ancient Forum, imagining the senators and merchants bustling about in their toga-clad glory. While Rome’s past was undoubtedly grand, it was impossible to resist snapping a photo of myself twirling in a pink tutu amidst the ruins! It’s all about adding a dash of whimsical joy to even the most ancient sites, don’t you think?
The Taste of Rome: Gelato and More!
A day in Rome wouldn't be complete without indulging in some delectable gelato. And let me tell you, they don't just do "good" gelato in this city, they do "OMG-this-is-divine" gelato! From pistachio and hazelnut to berries and cream, the flavours were endless.
Pro-tip: find a little hole-in-the-wall gelateria, off the beaten track, and prepare to be blown away. I think I may have single-handedly drained a shop’s strawberry sorbet in a record time… Oops!
Later this week, we'll be hitting up some of the iconic trattorias and restaurants Rome is famous for. I’ve heard the carbonara is divine! I plan on having my trusty tutu tucked under my chair – a chic alternative to the typical Roman tablecloth!
A Touch of Glamour: Fashion & Flair
One of my absolute favourite things about traveling is discovering the unique styles of each city. Rome is a fashion lover’s paradise! Here, I find myself drawn to classic chic, with a splash of modern flair. Leather, lace, and silk are everywhere you look. It's a world away from the usual sportswear of Derbyshire – and that’s just fine by me!
Later, I’ll be heading to a little vintage boutique I spotted near the Pantheon. Who knows what treasures I might find there? Maybe a fabulous pair of feather boas to add to my tutu collection! And, of course, no trip to Rome is complete without some serious souvenir shopping – especially when it comes to shoes!
An Evening of Romance and Theatre
This evening, we'll be venturing into the heart of Rome's theatre scene to see a show. As a ballerina at heart, it's a must-do for me. I’ve been longing for an evening of live performance, music, and emotion. I'm picturing grand ballrooms, candlelight, and exquisite gowns – a true Roman spectacle! I can't wait!
Of course, I'm going to be dressing to impress. I'm thinking a soft, blush-pink tulle skirt with a shimmering top, my favourite black ballet shoes, and my signature pink lipstick. You can't go wrong with a bit of pink, especially when you’re on the stage, or, well, anywhere really!
Looking Ahead: The Pink Tutu Tour
Stay tuned, my darling pink tutu enthusiasts! Next week, we'll be exploring some of the city's lesser-known gems. I’m hearing whispers of hidden gardens, picturesque piazzas, and maybe even a secret art gallery – perfect for an impromptu photo shoot!
