#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2023-07-12 exploring Rome Italy

Ciao bella! Emma here, and you know what, life’s just fabulous when you’re in Rome. As you already know, #PinkTutuRome is my Wednesday ritual - my weekly dose of sunshine and gelato from the most magical city on earth. I always find myself lost in the wonder of this place, and I bet you'll do the same, especially with a little bit of Pink Tutu magic sprinkled on top!

Rome is the perfect city to get a little bit of #PinkTutuInspiration and who better than yours truly, The Pink Tutu Ballerina, to be your personal tour guide. Let's dive in!

First off, I'm a bit of a train enthusiast (and a ballerina, of course!) so this week's adventure started with a charming, pink-hued train journey to the Eternal City. My carriage felt like a little carriage pulled by a giant pink-hued swan! The comfy seats were a dream and allowed me to indulge in some quality time with my beloved pink tutu - and who better to have by my side as I gazed out of the window at the scenery zipping by? This is truly my idea of #TrainTravelGoals and let's be honest, any journey involving a pink tutu is an instant upgrade!

Arriving at Termini Station was like stepping into a kaleidoscope! This iconic building itself felt like something out of a classic film - the Roman grandeur is truly unmatched. Then there was the energy. A melting pot of history and modernity all whirring together like a vibrant ballet. Rome instantly swept me off my feet with its energy, and even my tutu seemed to swirl in sync with the city's rhythm!

This week in Rome was all about embracing the ballerina life! Let me tell you, a trip to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is a must-do. The magnificent building is almost like a living museum - even from the outside it feels alive with history and beauty. My favourite detail? The pink-hued marble that graces the grand steps! How could a girl in a pink tutu resist a picture here? Inside the theatre, you get to lose yourself in a whirlwind of captivating art, enchanting music and inspiring performances. I can’t say I’m not tempted to start a ‘Pink Tutu Ballet Show’ at some point in the future - think about it! The costumes, the atmosphere…pure magic!

What’s a ballet enthusiast in Rome without a trip to Teatro Costanzi’s grand Teatro dell'Opera shop? This gem had a whole collection of beautiful, exquisite, oh-so-pink pieces that I knew would go perfectly with a ballerina’s everyday ensemble! It was the ideal way to boost my #PinkTutu wardrobe. The intricate details of the costumes, the beautiful ribbons, even the scent of aged fabric, had me enchanted for hours.

Don’t forget, a pink tutu needs sustenance! Oh, how I indulged! From the divine gelato (the most pink gelato you can imagine!) that tasted like a dream, to a breathtaking view of the city while devouring an exquisite pizza, every meal in Rome was a feast for the senses! It’s as if the Roman food gods conspired to craft a menu specifically for pink-tutu wearers, like me, with each bite tasting like a perfect pirouette.

The Colosseum is one of those sights you have to see at least once in your life, right? I love how ancient history whispers secrets in the cobblestones and Roman whispers cling to the air in the forum, so full of stories from the past. My trusty tutu became a trusty sidekick as we weaved through crowds of tourists, marvelling at the ancient architecture.

The Pantheon was my personal haven. The soft light filtering through the open oculus was just magic. It almost felt as though the heavens had decided to paint the ceiling with a touch of pink - fitting, I suppose, for a girl like me!

This city, I must tell you, is truly a haven for pink! Every corner feels like it was designed for a ballerina! Even the buildings seem to have a blush about them! The cobbled streets felt like the perfect dance floor for my little ballerina feet, and I'm convinced my tutus were whispering tales of emperors and gladiators as I strutted down the via Nazionale, with a smile on my face that outshone even the sun!

You've heard about Rome's iconic landmarks. I encourage you to visit them - from the Forum, The Trevi Fountain (which I threw a coin in, with a wish for a return trip to Rome) to the Piazza Navona, Rome just brims with historic treasures. It was just breathtaking to be surrounded by such artistry, culture and history. You’ll love discovering these gems while wearing a pink tutu! The experience is completely transformative, I promise you!

I firmly believe the best way to travel is with joy and grace, a message that's close to my heart, as you all know. And with my tutu, I have my little dance partner, always with me, inspiring others to spread a little bit of whimsy and color around the world! Rome has definitely reminded me that every day should be a celebration - even if it involves a pink tutu!
