Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1474 - Ciao Bella, From the Eternal City!

Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh dose of Pink Tutu travel inspiration, straight from the heart of Rome! This week, I'm bursting with excitement to share my adventures in this stunning city. Honestly, I feel like I've stepped right out of a Federico Fellini film, all swirling colours and breathtaking vistas. And just wait till you see what I'm wearing!

Train Tracks to Eternal Glory:

As a true railway enthusiast, my journey to Rome was already half the fun. I love the rhythmic clickety-clack of the tracks, the gentle sway of the carriage, and the delicious anticipation of a new destination. This time, it was a comfy Eurostar journey from London, taking in the beautiful countryside on the way. I packed a chic pink travel outfit, of course, complete with a touch of sequins, and accessorised with a book by Italian writer Elena Ferrante (I can't resist a good dose of literary inspiration, even when I'm on a whirlwind adventure!)

La Dolce Vita, Pink Tutu Style:

I've been in Rome for a few days now, and it's already exceeded all my expectations! The ancient ruins, the vibrant markets, the bustling squares, the mouthwatering food – it's simply irresistible. And the weather's been picture-perfect too! Warm sunshine and gentle breezes. What's a girl to do, you ask? Well, obviously, I've been making the most of it. This past week, I've fallen head over heels with these amazing spots:

  • The Colosseum: No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Colosseum. I even found a sweet vintage-style pink beret for the occasion! Imagine all those Roman gladiators and emperors, swirling their way through those ancient battles… I could almost imagine them doing a ballet performance, in tutus, of course! 😉
  • Trevi Fountain: Tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain is a must! My little pink coin twinkled down as I made my wish. I'm not telling what it is though – let's just say it involves tutus, sparkles and lots and lots of travelling. 🤫
  • The Vatican: What can I say? It's awe-inspiring! The Sistine Chapel? Breathtaking. The Basilica? Spectacular. And of course, I donned my favourite tulle skirt, a bold touch of pink amongst all those divine masterpieces. I've been trying to learn a bit of Italian, and I've learned how to say "Bellissima!" which means beautiful - the perfect word for Rome.

Fashion Spotlight:

Of course, fashion is my passion, and I haven't forgotten to indulge my sartorial spirit in Rome! Here's what I've spotted:

  • A vibrant yellow Valentino store: It practically screamed at me from across the street, and the vibrant colours and daring designs reminded me so much of the Italian sunshine. They're so clever, Valentino – I'm smitten!
  • Unique and independent boutiques tucked away on charming backstreets: I've stumbled upon so many independent stores brimming with vintage clothing, artisanal crafts and stunning local designs. It’s amazing how each boutique has its own unique story to tell. I even found a pair of divine coral pink suede shoes that I couldn't resist - they'll look fabulous with my favourite pink dress!
  • Roman fashion bloggers: They're seriously rocking the bold looks – leather, fringe, vibrant prints… it's a masterclass in style. They've even convinced me to wear some sparkly heels! They are, after all, just the thing for twirling around Roman streets. 💃

Dance, Dance, Dance:

Of course, even in Rome, a girl needs her ballet. I found an adorable little studio in Trastevere - you can imagine how pleased I was when I walked in to see the teacher, Maria, was wearing a dusky pink tutu! I signed up for a beginner's class and discovered a hidden gem. I learned a beautiful new sequence and made new friends. The teacher even let me take a class picture with a sweet little boy, in a navy blue tutu - what could be more adorable? 💖

On This Day:

Tomorrow, I'm going to have the most fabulous time exploring Trastevere. It’s famous for its romantic, winding streets, buzzing bars and delicious food! I hear it's the perfect spot for some photos, and with my new Roman tan, I'm hoping to catch a few snapshots worthy of Instagram. In the evening, I’m heading to a spectacular ballet performance in a hidden gem theatre near Piazza Navona. It’s a beautiful 18th century theatre – the kind of place I feel like I’ve been transported back in time. I'll make sure to capture some stunning photos and stories for you, darling.

A Touch of Pink in the Eternal City:

My travels in Rome have reminded me of the joy of simply being present, appreciating the beauty around us and indulging in moments of sheer, whimsical delight. Rome has certainly captured my heart, and, to quote Audrey Hepburn, "Life is a beautiful series of happy moments," and that’s exactly what I’m finding here!

And, remember, dear reader, even in the most beautiful city in the world, there’s always room for a little touch of pink! It adds a touch of whimsy, romance and magic, making any journey unforgettable.

Until next Wednesday, keep your tutus twirling!

Yours in pink,

Emma
