#PinkTutuRome: A Tutu-tastic Take on the Eternal City! 🩰🇮🇹
Post Number 1489 | Wednesday 2023-12-20 | Rome, Italy
Ciao Bella, fashionistas and fellow tutu enthusiasts! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad explorer, broadcasting live from the heart of Rome, the Eternal City! I can hardly believe it's been a whole week since I hopped aboard that glorious train from Florence, a trip that, as always, inspired my creative juices, especially in the fashion department! (But, you’ll have to wait for that spectacular post, coming soon to your screens.) Today, we’re diving into the enchanting depths of Roman culture, from historic marvels to delectable treats. You ready to grab your pink tutus and join me? Let’s get twirling!
Rome's Hidden Treasures: Beyond the Colosseum
Now, let's face it, the Colosseum is pretty epic! (Yes, yes, you could say it’s a bit of a classic, wink.) But today, we're on a mission to unearth some of the city's hidden gems. 🤫 We kicked off our Roman escapade with a delightful gelato break near the Trastevere neighbourhood. That heavenly, creamy taste - I could have danced all day with a scoop of pistachio in hand!
Fashion Fiesta: Finding Rome's Quirky Side
My journey to uncover Rome's fashion secrets took us through the narrow, vibrant streets of Trastevere. It felt like a scene from a charming old movie! Forget high-end boutiques, it's the independent stores and tiny studios where the magic happens. I unearthed a delightful handmade jewellery shop, where I found a gorgeous pink coral necklace to adorn my ballet outfits. Talk about statement piece! The lady behind the counter, a true artisan, even gave me some tips on styling it with my tutus - brilliant!
Street Style with a Twist: When Dance Meets Rome's Heart
Speaking of street style, let me tell you, the Romans are masters at blending classic chic with effortless charm. You'll find chic ladies sporting the latest trends paired with vintage scarves or leather jackets – it’s a truly unique spectacle!
But you know me, I just can't resist a little extra twirl here and there, even on my adventures. So, I did what any self-respecting tutu-loving traveller would do: I took my twirls to the next level and decided to surprise some locals with a impromptu ballet performance! Yes, you read that right, right here in the middle of Trastevere, amidst cobblestone streets and laughter. I pulled out some basic pirouettes, even threw in a couple of grand jetés (I always pack my special shoes!), and to my surprise, everyone joined in!
I was thrilled to witness a whole city full of people embrace the joy of dancing. The smiles, the cheers, even a few brave onlookers who joined me with some impromptu twirling – it was truly magical! Let's just say, I made a few new fans in Rome. Perhaps a pink tutu will soon be de rigueur in Trastevere!
A Ballerina's Dream: Stepping into the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
If you’re a ballet lover like me, a trip to Rome wouldn’t be complete without seeing a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! The opera house, renowned for its stunning architecture and acoustic, hosted the most breathtaking ballet performance of Giselle. I mean, talk about a visual feast! The dancers, dressed in ethereal, soft tutus and elegant costumes, performed with such grace and technical skill. It was simply mesmerising!
I admit, I felt a tiny pang of stage envy as I witnessed the captivating artistry unfold before my eyes. (A ballerina girl can never quite resist that twirling urge.) But truly, I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of this vibrant and inspiring experience. If you ever have the chance, don't hesitate to grab tickets and embrace the world of ballet in all its glorious grandeur!
Balancing Fashion and Foodie Delights: Rome's Culinary Wonderland
Speaking of balancing act, let's talk about food! It’s truly an adventure for your tastebuds! After spending a whole day exploring, what could be better than an authentic Italian dinner? My heart fluttered with joy at the sight of perfectly cooked pasta, hearty sauces that could only be a testament to Italian culinary traditions. Let’s just say, a pink tutu is almost a requirement to properly enjoy a pizza like that!
But no Rome journey would be complete without a delightful breakfast. Coffee and pastries - a must! Now, the sweet scent of croissants in the mornings is something I truly adore, a real ballet of smells! It makes for a fabulous pre-dancefuel, allowing me to soar through the cobblestone streets in the name of ballet and beautiful food.
Back to Derbyshire: A Journey of Inspiration
After a week of adventures in the heart of Italy, I’m headed back to Derbyshire, England, where my next chapter of pink tutu magic awaits. Rome has inspired me so much. From the vibrant art scene, the heartwarming passion of the people, to the elegance of the fashion, I’m filled with joy and ready to share every little detail with you. Rome will forever be in my heart – the city of love, art, and endless tutus. Ciao bella, and until next Wednesday!
Emma x
