Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1541 – Wednesday, 18th December 2024 – Under the Italian Stars
Buongiorno, my darling Tutu-ettes! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means: another glorious installment of Pink Tutu Rome! And what a day it’s been, you’ll never guess what happened…but more on that later!
First things first, darling, how are we all? This week has flown by, haven't we? Did anyone catch a particularly impressive ballet show? (Do tell, my Tutu-ettes, your stories make my week!) And did you wear your pink tutus to it? I'm determined to make the world a brighter, more fabulous place one tutu at a time, remember?
Now, let’s get down to business. The capital of Italy has been simply magnificent so far! I arrived yesterday, of course by train. I can't resist the glamour of a European railway journey. There's just something so exciting about watching the world fly past, with a good book, and perhaps a cheeky scone from the trolley (even if it is rather overpriced - but that's a price I'm happy to pay for that perfect afternoon tea feel!).
My travels, you see, are funded by the grace of dance. It’s true! Every performance I give allows me to live my dream, flitting from city to city, exploring the world's beautiful corners while wearing my most fabulous tutus (of course).
As you might have guessed, this means Rome’s already given me a full itinerary. The Rome Opera House, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, to be exact. Now, I've heard tales of its grandeur and charm – its plush velvet seats, the twinkling lights above the stage, and a history filled with captivating stories of the great Italian masters. It simply has to be seen, right?
My favourite part, as always, was the performance. It was a show with breathtaking talent and grace. The dancers were captivating, the music moved my very soul. The story, a beautiful ballet of love and loss, painted a powerful tapestry of emotions that left me breathless.
The perfect finish to the evening, my dear Tutu-ettes, was my little escape into the charming, vibrant atmosphere of Rome after the show. We ventured through the bustling back streets, my tutu twirling along, my cheeks rosy from the night air and my heart humming with excitement. Rome at night is truly magic!
Speaking of magic, today has been a whirl of colours and culture! I started the day with a delectable Italian breakfast - flaky croissants with Nutella, caffe latte so creamy it practically begged to be painted pink! From there, my little heart and I set off to the Piazza Navona, a square where Roman history meets bustling artistry.
The sculptures, my Tutu-ettes! So beautiful, they were just begging for a ballerina to join them. So I took my cue! Imagine me, twirling in my pink tutu in the sunshine, the laughter of children mingling with the melodious Italian tunes – it was perfection.
Then, it was on to the Colosseum! A massive monument of an arena where gladiators once fought, its ancient stories whispering tales of power and courage. Honestly, my Tutu-ettes, I could feel the echoes of history as I walked those ancient stones, my tutu dancing in a timeless waltz with Rome's magnificent past.
Lunch, my dear Tutu-ettes, was a little adventure in itself. My inner explorer guided me towards a quaint cafe near the Trevi Fountain, and, of course, my pink tutu perfectly matched the floral print tablecloth! I opted for a simple pizza and salad - sometimes you just have to let the magic of the city speak to your tummy, wouldn't you say?
As the sun began to set, casting its golden glow upon the cityscape, I found myself amidst the colourful chaos of the Campo de’ Fiori. Imagine stalls piled high with the freshest fruit and vegetables, local artisans showcasing their skills, and delicious scents of homemade pasta and gelato wafting through the air – a feast for all the senses. This was definitely a highlight, darling!
After all the day's adventures, my body needed a little rest. So, I slipped into my comfy pink dressing gown and headed to a lovely cafe on a quiet backstreet, ready to immerse myself in the history of this remarkable city. My journal was out, a hot chocolate in hand (whipped cream, obviously), and I began sketching some of my favourite memories.
Today, I realised something very special, my darling Tutu-ettes. Rome is a symphony of colour and culture. Every corner whispers a story, every aroma a tantalising delight, and every smile a beautiful brushstroke on this grand masterpiece of a city.
But, darling, the true wonder is the joy of living each day, the joy of dancing, the joy of sharing those experiences, the joy of seeing your own inner magic. It's something that’s been shining brighter than ever this week, a feeling I want to spread to all you gorgeous Tutu-ettes!
I know there are so many lovely places for us to explore. So, next week, my dears, we’re taking a delightful detour into the art world! It's something close to our hearts, don’t you think? I’ve been eyeing up some exhibitions at the Galleria Borghese - imagine it, tutus amidst the masterworks of art! Can’t wait to show you what we discover!
Remember, darling, be kind to yourself, be brave, be kind to others, wear your pink tutu with pride, and never, ever stop dancing.
Until next Wednesday, darling Tutu-ettes!
Lots of love, Emma xx
